L4D 2

someone says that it will have puzzles too… what kind?
why i dont like graphics at all? its source engine really outdated?

I don’t know, why don’t you like graphics at all? If they bother you so much, then turn your monitor off.

No, the source engine isn’t outdated. It’s just not designed to force people to buy new hardware, which is pretty much the definition of next-gen.

no, my point is: half life 2 episode 2 is also build on source but i find it much much better. i would like graphics on l4d2 to be a little better from 1, they look the same

Do what most developers do to make a new next gen game.

  1. Open monitor OSD settings.

  2. Decrease sharpness to 0 and make the picture as blurry as possible.

  3. Increase brightness and contrast to 100 to simulate HDR.

  4. Place plants and random vegetation everywhere around your room.

  5. Manually limit VSYNC to 15 frames per second.

That’s been the definition of graphical progression since PC gaming started. You’re just NOW complaining about it?

I never said I was complaining about it, I just said that no one considers things ‘next-gen’ unless they have unnecessarily high system requirements.

You don’t have to say it to mean it. I understand where you’re coming from but…

If people aren’t forced to upgrade, then no one will feel the need to make progress. It’s taking longer and longer each “gen”

btw: Why the fuck are we still calling it “next gen”? It’s current, now. NEXT gen will be something along the lines of project offset. Probably even more.

That just emphasizes how ridiculous the whole notion is. But let’s get back on topic.

Left 4 Dead 2. Boo.

Left 4 Dead 2. Woo.

I enjoyed the original enough to pay for another new version of it.

Yes. Let’s get back on topic.

L4D2. 4TW2!

San Diego Comic Con next week wherein Valve will be showing off one of L4D2s campaigns, Swamp Fever.

Yay!

Yep. Hoping they’ll show another of the new special infected too. Although it’s the new game type that has me the most curious.

if you where to compare a source2007 screenshot to a crysis screenshot or a UT3 screenshot you would find that the source engine is far from outdated but infact it is top of the line.

episode 2:

Crysis:

Unreal Tournament 3:

which one looks the best?

for much of the naysayers its just valve’s attention to optimization that turns people off. But if you make a level in source like you would make one in crysis, you could make it look just as good or better, with crysis’s only advantage being DX10.

edit:: changed to links because someone thought that screenshots where spam, just remove the triple t’s and the quadruple w’s

hmmmm…

maybe my above post warrants its own thread…?

this has quite alot on the game

Well, the gore’s better.

why where my images disabled?

It doesn’treally matter. All 3 engines have their ups and downs. Some do things better than others.

Crysis does environments, UE3 does characters, source spreads itself kinda thin.

lol fail.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
