L4D 2

20,000 people? Of course that’s going to have an impact.

More then half of those are people just putting their name down, they’re against it, but will still buy the game, and Valve knows that.

Also L4D apparently has a community of about 3 million players. 20000 is a drop in the ocean, less than a percent.

Fair dues. But that does add up to something like £400,000. I can’t remember how much it costs…

It’s still a lot of moolah.

For regular people, but not for valve.

I admit, the sequel seems very premature in coming, and frankly what they added so far feels like it would be better suited as DLC. However, from what I hear about the improvements to the AI director (like dynamically switching parts of the map based on how well you’re doing), I might just get it since L4D 1 has been getting a bit old on me. I’ll see what the reviewers think, and then hope that Alan Wake scares the crap out of all of us.

Alan wake looks a little scary, but from what I’ve seen it’s just a rip-off of Silent Hill.

Valve spent 10 million dollars just on the advertising for the game. If they did that they obviously expected to boost their sales by at least ten million over what they would have made without it just from their fanbase and built in Steam advertising, which must have already been considerable. And as has been pointed out, internet petitions generally don’t mean a thing and many of those names will probably crumble when the game comes out.

Oh, I’m not supporting the retarded protest, I was just sayin’.

I’m all for L4D2, I’m certainly going to get it.

I know, I was just saying I don’t think that boycott amounts to more than a drop in the ocean.

I just thought I’d make sure…

Yeah, I guess it is a drop in the ocean. You win, assface.

Considering that’s only the amount of people that cared enough about it to join the boycott, there’s way more people that are just carrying out the boycott without joining it.

If they can’t even be bothered to join a boycott, why would they be bothered to boycott the game?

Maybe I’m strict to Valve, but it’s pretty retarded to publish a sequel to game that hasn’t been out to the market for full 2 years or so ( Valve isn’t EA games, remember that). Also I’m pretty disturbed by the appearance of all those melee weapons. They seem like they were copied straight out of Killing Floor. Anyway, it’s probably to early to judge about the game, and the only way to see if it sucks or not is to buy it.

… Or Dead Rising, or Zombie Survival, or any number of zombie films.

In my opinion, I think Valve tried to copy them. Just thinking of melee weapons in any L4D game seems to me like blasphemy. :S
And again, when the release date comes we will see if it was a bad or a good idea.

What on earth? Because they have introduced melee weapons - things common to many, many games - you assume that they are specifically copying Killing Floor, a game that came out almost a year after they started developing L4D2? Is your opinion based on anything, or did you just pick a conspiracy, stick some game names on a dartboard and throw blindfolded?

Like the 9/11 Truth retards… and the New World Order retards… and I think there was a conspiracy that claims Richard Nixon was involved in the murder of one of the Beatles. They sell books about it!
Yep, the human mind is fucked up.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
