I don’t like bacon double cheeseburgers :<
if you dont have to buy the games again it would be worth it. otherwise use bootcamp like the rest of us
Well, if Valve is doing this, it’s pretty clear they’re doing this to make more money, and not because of the Mac community’s pretty eyes. So I have a feeling they’ll charge money for the Mac versions of the games we already have (maybe a small upgrade-fee or something).
I’d still buy them tbh. They’re not that expensive anyway. I just want to stay out of Windows as much as possible, if that means I have to pay some extra moneys to get Steam and the Source catalog in OSX, then so be it, I’ll gladly do it.
I run just a normal Macbook for work (Our environment has Macs and PCs so it’s easy to just use a Mac and emulate a PC if I need to, not the other way around.)
It’d be nice to see some support for a few games I find myself playing when I’m on the go. I’d like to get rid of my Bootcamp partition entirely and just stick to using Parallels. But I doubt that will be the case. Normally I just find myself playing JK: DFII or Zen of Sudoku, which I don’t see being ported over unfortunately.
I bet if they release the hl2 series for mac the whole thing will run off the ep2 source engine or newer Like the )(-box
If they did that, they wouldn’t have any justification any more for holding off the upgrade for the Windows version.
Most probably there will be some kind of (orange-)box for mac, too. Maybe when episode3 is out?
Probably because they are incredibly overpriced. Earlier today I was bored so I looked at the 2,500 dollar Mac Pro and built it on Newegg. The Mac Pro, for 2500 dollars, comes with no monitor just the tower.
For 1600 dollars I built an equivalent system except the video card which I got a better one AND I got a 24" monitor.
Macfag status
[X] Told
shrug Then don’t get a Mac.
For those of us who HAVE Macs, this is awesome! Might it be related to the Portal 2/HL2 Ep:3 release speculation? Perhaps they’ll release an iBox with all the HL games for Mac…
Ep:3 eh? I’d prefer info on Ep.3 myself…
You’d have a point if it wasn’t for the fact that you had to use Windows or a gimped-open-source OS.
First of all there is nothing wrong with Windows, it has been fine since Windows 2000.
Second you can run OSX on that computer. Heard of a Hackintosh? Apparently not.
I have, and they completely nullify the advantage of OSX.
And no, workflow in Windows has always been shit since the dawn of time. And it doesn’t seem like they’re willing to fix that just yet. Not even the fancy new xerox features of 7 come close to making Windows an OS that offers a decent workflow.
Your incompetence and lack of knowledge is intriguing, I must admit. You seem to be one of those turds with a peanut for a brain that likes to follow the common mainstream “macfag” hatred, without factually knowing why you’re bashing the computers or the OS. They might not be made for users such as yourself, but they are perfectly fine computers for a lot of people around the world.
Apart from being slightly more expensive (considering the total package) and having a smoother OS, they’re nothing short of being a proper PC.
They may have older components, but they are built to last and are actually amazingly fast. I don’t see what everybody’s problems with macs are.
Elaborate, please?
See the Windows vs OSX thread in the Massdebating Hall. I’ve elaborated it enough there.
But to sum it up: workflow in Windows is illogical, slow and clunky. Working in Windows feels like working in an 80’s cubicle office, working with OSX feels like working in a modern age island-based office.
I tried to ask you there previously and I got back was an insult. I just want to know what you mean. “Feels like” is insufficient. What the heck do you mean by “workflow is shit”?
That doesn’t explain why. If you cba to elaborate again, copy pasta. I’m not taking sides, but I will say Windows never seems to be complex or clunky to work with.
I didn’t realize there was a theory on what makes a good workflow. Workflow is something that an individual feels when working. I haven’t used a single Windows version that offered me a smooth workflow. Everything I do in Windows, I can do faster in OSX.
And yes, I am talking about “out of the box” here. I’m not interested in downloading a bunch of third party apps just so I can make the Windows workflow better.
The functionality of the Dock far exceeds the functionality of the taskbar/startmenu.
The functionality of Exposé far exceeds the functionality of the window management Windows offers.
The day Windows becomes a proper OS is the day I’ll consider getting a PC. Until then, I’ll gladly pay the extra cost for a Mac.
I don’t get Macs because of the hardware. I get Macs because they offer me the dream that is OSX, not the nightmare that is Windows.
I know, macs are awesome, the hardware is actually great (the imacs especially) and before yu say it is outdated, all hardware is going to be outdated about a fortnight after purchase.
