Alright, if Macs suck SO much, then why do people buy them? Moreover, why do people convert from PC to Mac, if the experience of the former so outweighs that of the latter? Moreover, why do people whoāve made the switch then announce that theyād never go back for all the tea in China?
Mac users currently make up more than 10% of the market. Thatās nothing to snort at. Over the last holiday season, Apple sold 3.36 million Macs. Source. And a BIG N.B.FYI, there are more people using Mac OS X (of which 50% use 10.5 and about 27% use 10.6) than Windows 7.
Of course, then thereās another website that puts the usage at closer to 5%, so now Iām totally confused. Source.
Either way, Macs make up a significant portion of the market place. Please then explain to me how and why all of those people are wrong?
Because āeveryoneā has one.
MacOSX has been out a lot longer.
OSX is mostly for people who care more about fitting in, and eye candy over productivity. Oh wait! Thatās right! Windows 7 looks better than OSX! Must be something else then⦠Hmm⦠Maybe because itās easier to use⦠Darn! Windows 7 is easier to use, too! Maybe itās because of their sheer power. Woops, Windows 7 is faster, and has a greater capacity for being upgraded.
Welp, Iām at a loss of words then.
Because most people are idiots and find modern computers too confusing.
^ This.
Also,
iThinkyoushouldcooldown.
I realy donāt see the point of these debates, no one is going to change their mind, so why bother?
And anyway, my pc can run ep2 on almost higraphics, so there is no reason why a mac canāt when it has superior hardware.
Fixed.
I also left the last bit off, because youāre confusing the OS with the hardware.
I understand modern computers just fine. I can build modern computers just fine. I can fix problems with modern computers just fine. The problem with all this is: I simply canāt be arsed to put all the effort in it to get the hardware to run perfectly fine and then tune the OS so it doesnāt stay the whore it is by default. I prefer to buy a computer, come home, plug in one power cord and have fun doing the things I like to do straight away.
I do not have the urge to come to this forum and yell āYAY MY NEW COMPUTER PARTS HAVE ARRIVED, IāLL BE HAVING A PRO COMPUTER IN A WEEK o///////////ā, Iād rather go āyay, new computer!ā.
For a second I thought you were serious. Unless your PC is shitty but can somehow run ep2 on āalmost higraphicsā.
I meant superior to my pc, and seriously guys, why the mac hate? Macsā prices are justified and they are super fast. I am not trying to get you to buy a mac, just to stop being buttraped by Bill Gates.
Youāre an idiot.
Iām getting just as buttraped by Bill as you are by Steve, donāt you realize? At least getting buttraped by bill means I pay less money for a better computer.
To me it isnāt about which one is better in terms of performance or price or whatever measuring staff you want to use. For me itās about having something I love to use. I like OSX over Windows, I can also explain why I like OSX over Windows, but that doesnāt mean that my preference counts as a rule or a true fact that one is better than the other.
To me, the people that prefer PC/Windows over Mac/OSX seem as weird as I seem to be to you. But that doesnāt mean that I believe PC/Windows is worse in any way in general, I just donāt like using them. I prefer Macs because I prefer OSX, I dislike PCs because I dislike Windows.
So now that Steam and Source are clearly heading over to OSX, all I can do is cheer because it makes my life easier. Iām not cheering because āhahaha PC is losing out Mac is taking over hahaā.
I am not saying I donāt like windows either, I just prefer Macs, I am actually going to get once next year xD - the iMacs though as the others are overpriced. I really do not see the point of these threads. Anyway, I thught this one was about steam coming to mac, not mac vs pc.
Bolteh is your prime example of what mac users should be, not deluded by bullshit.
I am not deluded, what would make you think that?
The iMac price is justified, canāt remember where I posted it, but I had a breakdown of all the costs of the parts and a total they are quite similar figures.
And what were you comparing them to?
PC equivalents.
Pfft, 90% of people own a PC. Thereās a trend, but surely the trend started for a reason. Why? Because OS X is actually intuitive to use, its stable, its user friendly and it actually does what its damn well supposed to, when you want it to do it. Windows 7 might be better, but Iām still battling with through a rather large cesspool trying to make Windows function as I want it to, when I want it to.
Latest example: Modern Warfare 2. It crashes every half an hour of play time, just when Iām about to enter a game. And its not even a game bug, somethingās wrong with DirectX, but not only doesnāt the computer tell me whatās wrong, it doesnāt even let me exit the window; Iām forced to restart the computer and go back to the crash log thingo and look up why it crashed.
Apple did it better, and they did it first. And theyāre still doing it better than Microsoft. This is only an argument for Apple.
So PC users are social recluses who donāt care about fitting in? I can believe that.
Windows 7 looks better than OS X? Riiiiight. Then why, using your own logic, are people still buying Macs and not just PCs with Windows 7? Why does Windows 7 still represent a tiny portion of the Windows share compared with Vista? Being jaded is one thing. Trying to pass your own bias off as objectivity is, however, quite another.
Wait so, an operating system can be upgraded? Nice faux pas there. Turns out, Windows 7 capable desktops can be upgraded (most often to be capable of running the latest OS), but good luck upgrading anything in a PC laptop other than the hard drive or the RAM, which you can also do on a Mac laptop. And, given the longevity with Mac computers, you wont need to upgrade your computer every ten minutes to just make it turn on.
In terms of āease of useā, I seriously think youāre mistaking familiarity with intuitiveness. I canāt speak of specific examples, but name a single thing on the Mac that is not as easy to use or as flexible as its Windows equivalent?
And prove Windows 7 is faster than OS X. Iāll contend that OS X is much faster, but Iāve got very little data other than personal experience to back that up.
And next time you post, try not to come off as a sanctimonious little shit. Iāve called someone that before, and it seems to be a trait amongst all you MS fanboys.
