@jingles so how am I getting buttraped again?
Because you’re putting up with mediocrity when you should demand better. After dealing with Vista and the amount of Windows 7 teething problems I’ve had (and I know many others have had), it should’ve been better. Microsoft should give more value for money, and yet most just continue to lap it up like nothing’s the matter. Stop taking it in the arse and actually look objectively at the operating system you’re defending. Its an improvement, but the fact that some have spent hundreds of dollars on its bastard cousin which was, decidedly, a complete let down is shameful. And the fact that Microsoft didn’t even acknowledge that they made mistake only increases the shame.
And at least when you get buttraped by Steve he’s gentle because he knows Bill has already had his way with you.
And by getting a mac I’m doing better? yeah no.
Elaborate, because you sound like a mac vs pc commercial.
And you aren’t doing that?
I’m not defending it, I’m more on the offensive at his little delusion.
And it’s their fault you made a bad buying decision?
Thanks for backing me up Loony, I had thought of getting a mac mini instead of my current space saver, but I put it off, now macs get source, I am going to get an iMac
I’ve been a Mac user my entire life, from System 7. I now have a 2006 iMac dual booting Snow Leopard and Windows 7 and I use them about equally. I’m also A+ certified to repair PCs, so I think I’m probably a bit more qualified to compare the two OSes.
Mac OS is really intuitive and doesn’t get in your face. In addition, it looks nice, runs fast, requires little to no setup, and is incredibly stable.
Windows has the compatibility with a wide range of applications that most people require. It has some progressive features that are really helpful, like Aero Peak, and snapping windows to a half of the screen (I use this soooo much).
At the end of the day, they’re both quality products, but it really comes down to personal preference. If you like Mac OS, get a Mac and don’t bother the Windows users who try and tell you you’re wasting your money. Mac hardware is very well designed, and runs admirably. If you like Windows, get a PC and don’t bother the Mac users who try and get you to “convert”. PC hardware is powerful and cheap, and can be easily upgraded, and you should be happy about that.
Thank you for injecting some logic in here.
I know it’s only one post up, I thought I;d quote it for exposure.
I was kind of getting at this, but failing.
I would take a gimped-open-source OS over OS X any day. Seriously, I’ve lived with OS X before and I hated it.
Re: Hackintoshes
And what might that be? I know what you’re about to do - you’re going to get into how its UNSUPPORTED AND LIEK BECAUSE YOU’RE USING MULTIPLE HARDWARE PLATFORMS ITS UNSTABELELEELELE etc.
If you’re not, please elaborate. I’m interested to know what you’re going to say.
We’ve been over how both are respectable platforms and you should all shut the fuck up. That said, Benjamin, please shut the fuck up.
Thanks for your consideration!
Now: topic.
Can we get back to the original topic please guys~?
I congratulate you with your newly acquired sense of personal preference.
Apple tweaks and tunes OSX to work fluently with the hardware Macs offer. The moment you’re installing OSX on generic PC hardware (Hackintoshes), you’re making the system prone to failures from outside of the OS. Resulting in a less fluent and buggy OS, thus nullifying the advantage OSX has on Macs.
One of Windows’ biggest problems to date, is the existence of bollocks third party software that is able to bug out a certain piece of hardware or even the OS (look at the nVidia driver issue a few days ago). These problems also exist in OSX or for Macs, but Apple generally resolves these problems pretty fast (like the 27" iMac screen flickering).
Ahem: get on topic.
Mac fans: yes, your computer is a stable, well put together beast.
Windows fans: yes, your computer is an upgradable, customizable powerhouse.
Linux fans: …uh, your computer isn’t owned by THE MAN, man! Good job!
Now, about Steam/Source for Mac. Huzzah, great games being exposed to a new demographic of fans for the benefit of all.
Yeah, people saying macs cant run new games well is because they have to use emulators, so if you cut those out, then the games should run like a dream on steroids.
I have a hackintosh in my secondary hard drive, and it has never crashed because my hardware is too awesome.
I used it every day hoping it would crash but I went back to windows due to boredom.
And it turned into a OSX vs. Windows thread again, what the fuck people.
[COLOR=’#212121’]you’re still a bunch o’ fags
I didn’t mention anything about osx being bad. I just said apple hardware is.
I think OSX should be released in the same format as windows, so anyone who paid for it could install it on their PC like they could install windows on Mac.
But if they allow it, mac computer sales would drop down 9000%.
And that’s why they don’t do that. Apple is primarily a hardware company, same as HP or Gateway or Dell or Toshiba. The exception is that they make their own operating system. if HP made its own OS as well, you know damned well that they wouldn’t allow you to install it on anything other than an HP computer. And if Microsoft made hardware primarily you know they would love to make Windows exclusive to their hardware. But their name is Microsoft, not Microhard.
I lawl’d.
A HP OS sounds like a good idea…
Thank you, I’ll be here all week. Now, what was this topic about again?
