Gordon’s not mute, He’s just the silent type, ie, doesn’t say anything unless he has something really really important to say. And when he does during the games, he’s always innterupted.
He thinks what you think/say during your playthroughs, and he won’t talk in the games, but he’s not mute.

when they (lords of video game creation) went out to design Gordan Freeman, they wanted him to be the most engaging character ever created, and to this day he still is.
PURELY because he does not talk, in terms of getting scientists to follow him (seeing as 80% of all communication is visual) is it so crazy that he uses hand signals? hell for all we know he could be doing sign language with his feet.
the point of this is that Gordans voice is our voice only because valve designed it that way. is he mute? it does not matter.

When you go to a scientist and hit the use key, Gordon says whatever the player thinks he would say. Just you make it up yourself it’s not voice acted. This way he won’t say something that you wouldn’t in that position. It puts the player in his shoes more. So if you think he says simply: “come with me” he says it, you just don’t hear it. Maybe for some people he says “get the fuck over there stupid scientist” and for other people something else
