If you could change anything about HL, what would it be?

I’d probably add an inventory system that lets you carry and deploy turrets, so you could set up ambushes. Either that, or get rid of the Ichys, they scare the crap out of me. :fffuuu:

This skin would be default.

So would this one. [COLOR=‘Black’]Well, maybe not THAT one.

I’d probably change the engine to Source OH WAIT

Give it some fucking stealth options. Seriously all the enemies knew where you were. :expressionless:

I wanted stealth kills. :frowning:

I’d make the Bullsquid faster seriously, what’s the fun about just being able to S+m1 with an mp5 to make sure you don’t loose any health. Also: I’d make the soldiers less strong. Seriously, they’ve overdone their health. I just needed to combo weapons, just to be able to kill them. And with combo, I mean equip shotgun, equip magnum and use only the double blast from the shotgun and then press Q and fire the magnum eachtime you’ve switched weapons.

I would get rid of the freaking Gonarch, and the entire “Gonarch’s Lair” chapter altogether! Freaking hated that thing! You keep shooting it but you know it won’t die until the end of the chapter anyway since it’s scripted! And those little white baby headcrabs it spits at you are impossible to kill, they’re way too small and fast, that was horrid!

I think it was stupid that vortiguants had their factory with machines and stuff. I would have liked to think of them as wild creatures, not civilised ones similar to humans. But that character gets emphasised upon in HL2 so I guess they really liked that idea.

I would make Nihilanth different, less lame and the entire boss fight should be way more interesting and intelligent. I mean there should be more thinking involved, and not just trying to shoot as much as possible and jump as high as possible, hoping not to land on the edge of a trampoline and get killed…

I guess I didn’t like Xen altogether much, it didn’t feel organic and alien enough to me. It’s a good basic idea but the implementation sucked I think.

I think the Blast Pit and the Power Up monsters should be more able to kill you: the tentacle in Blast Pit didn’t even touch you if you crouched all the way, since they you didn’t make any sound. The Gargantua in Power Up was too freaking slow to notice you each time you ran through that big room. The only time it was able to do something to you was when it was following you into the generator room, but I think there should be more direct contact with these bosses, having to avoid them and stuff, not just “oh if I run fast or crouch he won’t even know I’m there”.

Make Gordon speak. Make there be mirrors. Make Gorden reflect in water in HL2.

Make them

A hint, crouch :retard:

Make the game more of a survival horror

Make the Nihilanth battle a little more interesting
Get rid of Residue Processing
Remove the jumping puzzles on Xen

Left4BlackMesa? :brow:

:pffft:

you know what i will do?? i will make a dual wield or akimbo to the weapons for example as magnum, glock 19, crow bar, and i want to add the smod kick.

Play as Lamarr.

Seriously, I would put some darker environments in HL2 as the ones seen in the Beta. Not necessarily scary but a intense.

I’d not have the facility nuked in the storyline…

Change the weapons ammo to OVER 9000! And add a Desert Eagle to the Inventory

You can change the max ammo of any weapon with convars. Just type ‘sk_max_’ and then the weapon name & you can set how much ammo. But really, the amount of ammo is well balanced and shouldn’t really be tampered with.

Dual Magnums and a more brutal crowbar system
Grab his throat and bash his face with a crowbar
Hit him in the stomach with crowbar, drop him on ground, slam on his face
And
Wait for it
THROWING CROWBARS :awesome:

You can pick up a can in HL2 and the soldiers won’t notice you.

Dias, I agree

Just minor adjustments for realism

  • A body while driving and for reflections
  • Gibs in explosions, but not after just shooting or crowbaring a corpse
