if adrian shephard comes back......

why do you think Shephard should have anything to do with Half-Life again? He is the player character (YOU are shepherd). Don’t we have our hands full already with ONE silent protagonist (aka Gordon). People scream about anytime someone mentions him talk in a hypothetical movie script.

If anything you can pretend you are Shepherd (and shut your ears when NPCs mention the name “Gordon”) when playing Half-Life if that makes you feel better.

Seems like you guys have substituted Adrian Shepherd for something more substantial and important, like there is a need for something more in Half-Life saga but you can’t put a proper name on it. So Adrian Shepherd has stepped in. That is just sad really.

EDIT: You guys have seen too many movies where someone on the enemy side (in Half-Life’s case HECU are the enemy as long as they are out to get you) has an interesting aspect to him and you think there is more than meets the eye.

ON the tutorial, the sgt. told his that he was on the top of the advanced training list. This could give him a better position on the Army

Then he would be given a higher rank. A Corporal in the Air Force has the same rank as a Corporal in the Army.

No, we’re just not as short-sighted as some people are. Shephard’s story in Opfor was a success, that can’t be denied, he’s got a lot of fans, and they’re waiting for his return, especially since they left his storyline open by putting him in stasys. Personally I prefer Shephard to freeman (I know what kind of reactions I’m gonna get on this comment, but I just prefer him because he looked more badass and I loved the expanded number of aliens in Opfor), but I do not think he should be directly involved in Freeman’s actions in any way, because that would give you two main characters, so a spin-off game would work there perfectly. And perhaps, just perhaps, at the end of one of both games, you can show that the two finally meet, after all the trouble at Black Mesa especially.

I agree

Wait… people are saying he should pop back into the Half-Life series as a verbal, talking NPC? I figured it would make sense if he got another game, but under no circumstances should he collide with Gordon Freeman in the way that he talks or works together with him.

Dr. Breen is dead. And Adrian Shepherd is not coming back.

Thank you! Exactly my point!
I think it’s obvious that he’s so popular that making him an NPC, people wouldn’t even like it then, he doesn’t have a voice or face. Revealing the gasmask now would be odd, but leaving it on now would be retarded since many years have passed and it’s of no use anymore.
Do like they’re planning on Resident Evil movies, make it a spin-off, more in the way of the first HL-game again, it’ll def be a hit

Did Valve leave Breen’s death a mystery, or did someone misread an interview and come up with that 'He got swallowed up into an Advisor pod" hypothesis?

Neither :stuck_out_tongue: He’s dead.

i think it was just speculation because of how things happened in the beginning of eisode1. When you see the recording of Breen, an Advisor slips by you and automatically spazzes out with the telepathic attacks. So a lot of peeps out there, including myself thought maybe somehow Breen fell through the cracks of all the mayhem and found himself transferred into an Advisor’s bod.

it would have been nice if dr breens death had been a bit more vivid

Dead & gone, he wasn’t worth wasting any bullets on anyway.
So, conclusion, do like they initially planned on the modern warfare concept: Spin-off game. Just call it opposing Force and you have your title that is known already  Just situate it on the timeline between the explosion of Black Mesa and GOrdon being taken out of stasys. Let him fight Race X on another planet (the tear wasn’t fully closed or anything), and everyone’s happy.

God dammit, he fell at least five stories after you destroyed the teleporter. How much more fucking vivid did you want it to be?

I think he was looking for splatter!

Remember that barrel in the barn in EP2? The one that Advisor twisted, yeah. Replace the barrel with Breen. Very satisfying.

GMod ftw!

Maybe if by “fell” you mean “slowly descended.”

It’s still an apparent death, so he might come back as an advisor aor anything. That’d be lame, but it’s possible.
Who made this the Dr Breen topic anyway?

Dr Breen, Obviously

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
