Wubstep is nothing new to Halo 4. It’s been around for weeks, if not months.
The map looks gorgeous.

I’m surprised it’s so identical to Valhalla in terms of proportion. Maybe the movement isn’t that far off from Halo 2/3 after all.
Aside from Sprint by default, that is.
Clearly the map isn’t going to play the same way, from movement speed alone. My bet is that it’ll play faster than it did in Halo 3.
The finalized concept of forerunners still resembe humans you know.
And according to the Forerunner saga of books (cryptum, Primodoriom, Silentium) the precursors intended the two species to be similar;
the forerunners and humans were created at the same time to be tested for the wortyness of the mantle, the forerunners were tested first, and judged unworthy and problematic, so the precurosrs planned to eradicate the forerunners and opted for humans and were pending testing, but then the forerunners in a act of self defense revolted against the precursors and purged them from the milky way (there are probally more in the universe, but all of halo series revolves mostly, if not always in milkyway)
The librarian had a deep interest in humans because of how simialar they were to forerunners
and it wasnt a coincidence that humanity was also able to achieve equal technology to the forerunners;
Once upon a time, the prehsitoric human-genus empire achieved intersteller technology and were able to spacefare and colonize worlds
then technological dark ages occured which left humanity scattered around the milky way where they lost many of their historic records through time (including the knowledge of their planet of origin: Erda/Erde-Tyrene/EARTH)
thousands of years later a human female Yprin Yprikushma was able to trace humanity’s origins back to Erda/Erde-Tyrene/Earth and discovered the primodoral/timeless one and was able to reverse engineer precursor technology and bring humanity into technological equals to forerunners
Humanity also allied with the San 'Shyuum to have access to their technology (the San 'Shyuum are more well known as the Hierarchs/Prophets species; which is ironic because in the modern times, they oppose humanity in the covenant)
Humanity set up a central super-power in planet Charum Hakkor as a capital of the human genus-san 'shyuum empire (its like the ancient equivilant to Reach, as Reach is modern humanity’s leader in technology), but also because Charum Hakkor possess the largest collection of precursor artifacts (and most importantly the timeless one himself)
Forerunners and Humans are still very similar
its just in the MMO’s concepts, the forerunners seemed to have tier 3 technology (like suits that resemble spartan armor)
The only time a forerunner would NOT look like a human is if they underwent heavy augmentations, but the pure, unmodified (and usually young) forerunners (nicknamed Manipulars) bear the striking resemblence to humans
The difference is, since the precursors were still pending on testing humanity on the mantle, now twarted by the forerunners, used the flood as the “test”
Humanity was judged worthy due to their “victory” in the Human-flood war ( the timeless one claimed the flood could only infect things on will)
Had the humans failed to “defeat” the flood, the flood would “unite” forerunners and humans as one through re-shaping/zombification
guilty spark in halo CE (in the level “the lirbary”) mentioned how chief’s spartan armor was effective against the flood, despite its obvious out-dated technology
They are similar in that they have two arms, a head, and two legs. That’s basically it.
Forerunners, especially Manipulars, have fur of various colors including white, pink, purple, etc, on their forearms and in other locations, plus their skin can range from mottled brown to black, to blue, and a variety of other colors. That isn’t quite what is shown in those images. The basic shape of the armor can stay the same though, but it should be completely sealed because that’s how Forerunner armor was… completely sealed from the surrounding environment to the point where removing it would cause severe sensitivity issues.
I’m just saying that the Human/Forerunner split was not very obvious in those images because they were drawn BEFORE the plot point about the species being separate even existed (Bungie had originally intended the Forerunners to BE the Humans, and then later changed their minds when they wrote the story of Halo 3). Either way, the Halo MMO images are non-canonical until reused in future media, as they are from a scrapped project.
You don’t need to write a Ph.D-worthy dissertation on Forerunner history when posting. I’ve read every book, played every game. Chill out, I’m not retarded.
So anyway, I just preordered the Halo 4 soundtrack. Somehow got charged $5 shipping for a digital download, what the hell. Hopefully I’ll get that sorted out.
But they did send me a digital copy of the full version of Awakening early as a reward for my purchase. I have it on repeat right now, can’t stop listening to it… it’s just made of awesome.
i dont remember pure/manipular forerunners ever having fur O~O
did i miss somthing???

In other news,
hmmm, now i am either imagining forerunners as either god-like apes or just real real real real real real REAL hairy caucasian humanoids
or could it be just a mild case of body hair, because the forerunners dont seem to be by nature dependent on the fur for warmth (as with humans)
i think the second quotation of yours is actually directed towards humanity
Humanity at the time had a variety of genus (wheras today its strictly homo sapien)
although named differently there are ancient names for the human genus:
Chamanune = Homo sapiens (which would make chakas an african male)
K’tamanune = Neanderthals (only seen in origins)
Florians = Homo floresiensis (morning riser is one, and it seems forerunners commonly implant geas’ into these humans)
B’ashamanune, although i am not sure about this one, but i think they are Homo Habilis
The human genus may be significantly less hairy than forerunners, but still quite hairy nontheless (and Bornsteller seems to only talk about hair on his arms and legs, so its still unknown if his body is equally hairy)
Thin fur.
basically arm hair but three times as dense and an inch longer
No, it was directed towards Forerunners. No human species in existence has ever had pink fur, or gray skin. :hmph:
I’m getting an image of the fine small hairs you’d find on the nose of a cat.
I don’t mean to change the subject, but reading all this stuff about Halo 4 has made me want to replay all the series’ games besides Halo: Wars, with me playing Halo 1 and 2 for PC and then the others on 360.
That said, before the forum wipe, I recall a thread about a Halo 1 graphics overhaul mod. Does anyone remember the name or know where to get it? If my brain’s clouded and I’m speaking nonsense, I’ll just bite the bullet and play it as it is, but that little extra eye-candy never hurt anyone.
New map, “Abandon” – some gameplay, and a walkthrough/dev commentary
In other news, I just started reading The Thursday War and so far it’s pretty good.
I think it would’ve been more lore-friendly if the flood in infection mode were the theoretic forms of the intergalactic stage of mutation
because again, the intergalactic stage of mutation hasnt been witnessed before in-game (only time the flood could reach this level of evolution was in the ancient-human/forerunner-flood wars)
these stages of mutations sort of explain why flood look differnt from halo1 to 2, and 2 to 3 etc.
It’s called cmtspv3. It’s not so much a graphics overhaul as it is a game overhaul. The maps are being rebuilt from the ground up to minimize backtracking, the weapons are being rebalanced with some new ones being added, the graphics will all be improved thanks to a scripting plugin called open sauce that allows for post processing effects and normal maps on models, and the sound is all being redone and retooled by…me…
The guy doing the effects work for the mod is here too. He’s the guy doing the black mesa effects overhaul.
ffs…Microsoft, open up to PC modding…:’(
Halo PC and Custom Edition was frigging awesome, just build on that some more…making it easier to create mods would be a big thing, similar to how Fallout 3 and New Vegas had the GECK modding kit…
one word: $$$$ DLC $$$$
Although they’re already being generous about the first season of Spartan Ops.
I honestly wasn’t expecting that from Microsoft. An entire season of weekly episodic missions for free? No corporation ever does that! :fffuuu:
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
