I guess I have to be the one to make the Halo 4 thread again.

I love how I made such a stir that someone started making image macros of my old avatar.

Made by yours truly.

That page was seriously the best thing to happen since the wipe.

What page is it? I wish I didn’t miss it.

This is the best thing to come out of Halo 4’s release

Thanks for that link. Made me laugh harder then anything in the YLYL thread.

For some reason, I could actually see Microsoft releasing a PC port of Halo 4, but pulling the “Windows 8 exclusive” bullshit like they did with Halo 2 Vista, and then never make another PC port again because of “poor sales”.

They already don’t want to port any more Halo games to PC because of hilariously poor performance with Halo 2 Vista.

Do you mean performance as in sales, or as in framerate? Both would make sense in this context.

I mean both in hindsight, although initially I meant sales.

Remember that Microsoft is a megacorporation, and their primary motivation is money. If the game had horrible framerate but somehow great sales, they’d go ahead and do it again in a heartbeat.

Still, they should attempt it again, if not just for the fact that Halo 2 Vista was so long ago.

Also because it wasn’t Halo 2’s fault. Now that Microsoft’s got a decent OS and a game that’s likely to move a lot of copies, the only reason they have to not release it on PC is because it’s still moving 360s.

I don’t think Halo 2 was such a great game to port anyway. Not that it was bad, it just doesn’t seem like something very port-worthy. Halo 3 seems like it would have done better, and Halo 4 looks like it will be an even better one to port. But MS is obviously trying to hold onto the 360 as long as they can.

Well, what’s your definition of what makes a game worthy of being ported? Just being generally good quality?

I dunno, replayability I guess. Halo 1 was far more replayable than Halo 2 for me. As soon as Halo 3 came out, I never returned to Halo 2, really. I just never felt like it. On the other hand, I frequently play Halo CE on PC and Halo Anniversary even now. I just played a few games yesterday.

To me personally, replaying a Halo game is really the only reason why I would play on a PC, where I prefer the controls (because by then, I’d already have finished it on Xbox).

If the Xbox and PC versions came out simultaneously, I’d much rather get the PC version in a heartbeat.

Good quality, replayability, and the ability to be expanded through the usual PC perks.

And a game that the powers that be want to make more money from. There’s a few games I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve bought for multiple systems. The main reason these days is that I primarily played consoles when I was younger and now I go to the PC versions for the simple reason that consoles are kinda a hassle in this station of life.

Well I just watched the MLG Dallas Halo 4 tournament. I usually don’t watch MLG and avoid that stuff entirely but this tournament was actually really entertaining, for once. All the plays were incredible and intense, and even the new CTF and Infinity Slayer seemed to turn out balanced in the end.
