Yep. The Dawn may be larger than frigates in other universes but it comparison to other ships in the Halo universe it can be considered quite minuscule. Look at it compared to the Infinity for example. O.o

Well, that’s in the name. Personally I’m surprised it didn’t tear itself apart upon entering Req’s gravity…shit… but I guess the for-funner tech could help out with that

I just played through the first level of the campaign. So far, this is a trillion times better than Halo 2 or 3 (jury is still out as far as ODST and Reach).

Sound took giant leap forward (those guns, man…those guns…), the Covenant are downright frightening, and Masterchief actually feels like a person, rather than a bland machine. Everything feels much more natural and the controls actually feel like they stick (a feeling I haven’t felt in a Halo game since CE).

But what REALLY is awesome for me is this game’s attention to the lore. Ironically, 343 seems to be more loyal to the lore than its creator, Bungie. Finally, we see characters such as Halsey who are VERY important to the overall story, but if it weren’t for the books you’d never know better. Not to mention they actually seemed to get the hight comparisons right. I haven’t a clue if this translates into the actual game, but the Chief absolutely TOWERS over the technicians who are building his armor in the opening cutscene. And that Brute that is briefly shown stands taller than him! That’s awesome!

343 Industries have stated repeatedly that they’d go out of their way to ensure that all media are now as connected as possible. That way, canon-breaking lore disasters such as Halo: Reach should theoretically never happen again. :slight_smile:

So I’m watching a walkthrough of Halo 4 now just to see what I missed.

I didn’t realize how much I was missing out on just by playing without sound, in terms of the story and otherwise. I wish I’d bothered to enable captions.

I wasn’t aware that there was actually dialogue during the missions, or just how far I was in the game.

Audio is pretty key when it comes to story telling

Well, the cutscenes are fairly short. I didn’t realize just how much story was conveyed between them and the voice-overs of Master Chief and Cortana.

Plus, I only made it to Mission 4. I didn’t realize that I was fully halfway through the game; I was just intending to run the first mission or two on a friend’s Xbox while I waited for everyone else to finish visiting.

Without sound, what I saw of the story was almost exclusively Master Chief staring at various holograms and the occasional radio transmission. It’s hard to interpret very much from that.

But seriously. MC hides behind a helmet. It’s difficult to know if he’s, you know, talking or doing anything remotely story-character-interaction-driven.

^ Exactly. There are no visual cues as to him talking; in most games, masked characters usually take off their helmet or have have a transparent faceplate, or even just shake their heads and gesture a lot when they’re talking.

He is MUCH more involved in the story this time around.

Vocally, that is.

I imagine Cortana’s subplot helped a lot with that.
