I guess I have to be the one to make the Halo 4 thread again.

I am a little confused about the Didact, namely which one we are facing? (See spoiler below)

So the original Didact was supposedly killed by the Master Builder when he ordered the firing of one of the Halo rings. His form and personality lived on in Bornstellar, who, for all intents and purposes, became the Didact. This occurred before the sterilization of the galaxy, but after the devolution of humanity.

We also know that, in the midst of the Forerunner-Flood war, the Didact (one of them, at least) used the Composer to create new Prometheans from the degraded humans, which the Librarian did not take kindly to. She therefore shot him and had him imprisoned within the Cryptum we see on Requiem.

Now, it seems that the two events described above must take place chronologically in order for the entire story to make sense. But the Didact is ultimately the one to fire the Halo rings. One of them was supposedly killed, facilitating the continued evolution of Bornstellar into the Didact. And the second was supposedly imprisoned before the firing after inexplicably doing some really fucked up things to the humans (who he, Bornstellar that is, originally had a soft spot for).

I guess the question here is then which Didact do we face in Halo 4? The original who maybe didn’t die and came back to continue his experimentation? Bornstellar who came to resent humanity as much as the original? Or perhaps a third incarnation?

decadact

The original Didact was not killed by the Master Builder. His “execution” really was just the Master Builder marooning him on a flood-infested world. So technically at one point there were effectively two Didacts in existence: the “Bornstellar-Didact”, and the original Didact who was “executed” by Faber. He is known as the “Ur-Didact” for purposes of differentiation.

We do NOT yet know which Didact is the one in Halo 4. But my best guess is that the Halo 4 Didact is the Ur-Didact, while the Bornstellar-Didact was the one from the Halo 3 Terminals who activated the Halo Array.

It seems to fit. The Halo 4 Didact seems really pissy about everything and considered Humans to be his mortal enemies, while the Bornstellar-Didact is known to have been compassionate toward humans, most notably Chakas, and pretty much everything in general.

bornstellder didact travelled across the universe according to the Silentium previews

while ur-didact survived his flood trap (presumabally during the time of that terminal where he rallys his mechanical/“COMPOSED” prometheans)

OR maybe ur-didact’s “execution” was actually at the hands of the Librarian (remeber the terminals?) but in reality he was just crippled and stored in a Cryptum for 100,000 years (until his re-awakening by john117)

its hard to tell, no realizing how much of the halo 4 terminals contradict the halo 3 terminals and Forerunner saga books

revival and new Silentium cover art
obviously the didact on the cover is ur-didact

Three words:

Call of Duty.

It had to be done. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like that cover. Looks like a 70s movie poster.

Could elaborate some meaning into those words? Because I have no idea what it is you’re trying to say.

he’s trying to show us how dumb he is

he’s succeeding

Palmer is rapidly becoming an extremely shitty character.

Major spoilers

Halo silentium is out and alot of things have been revealed

-Precursors went into hiding and/or turned themselves into powder that would grow themselves back into their former selves; but the said powder grew diseases through time and perpetuates the flood infection; flood = reincarnated precursors

-The Domain is actually a precursor Essence created by precursors that contains 100 billion years worth of history

-A precursor relic encountered in the Galaxy Large Magellanic Cloud (called Path Kethona by forerunners), has the power to “crush” and “shrink” a planet (this could very well appear in halo 5/6)

WOAH WOAH WOAH

You almost spoiled me. Hide that shit, nigga!

So are the precursors and forerunners two different races, or…?

they are 2 different races

but the precursors are the reason forerunners, humans (and all life in the Milky Way) exist

the precursors’ technology is far superior to forerunners/prehistoric Humans
as they have a reach throughout the universe (some of their relics dont even exist in our space-time, the domain is a perfect example of this)

they are capable of making “orbital arches” that “connect” worlds and star systems together

and some of them turned themselves into powder that grew infectious and eventually became the flood (their powder forms were originally meant to allow them to be reborn in future times, had space diseases not tampered with it)

Orbital arches? Sounds like the precursors made Stargates to me…

Shush you guys, I have yet to read Silentium.

they arent portals, the Precursor Orbial Arches are physical arches that LITERALLY CONNECT STAR SYSTEMS AND GALAXIES TOGETHER

the prehistoric Humans build cities on said arches (all destroyed during their war with flood/forerunners)

the arches themselves (and most other Precurosr technology) are suspectable to the Halo rings, so it is assumed they were destroyed after the Halo firing

That sounds exactly like a stargate.

I miss SG1.

these ain’t some shortcut fast-travel bubbly blue windows. These are literal structures that let you ride your bike from dimension A to dimension B. They’re that advanced
