I don't like Steam, but is it the only choice to get HL1 from?

If you have an internet connection:
Use steam.
(If you want a CD of Half-Life, you can still buy Half-Life1 Anthology in stores)

You’ll have a happier half-life experiance with the steam version.

If you don’t have an internet connection:
Find an original WON game CD on ebay (Will be single player only).

All the hatred for steam should be died out by now, if you have a problem with steam then you’re the one with the problem, not the software. I actually support steam, most people with a computer and play games have an internet connection, so there is no excuse for not liking steam. You can say they have the customer by the balls, but what does that really mean these days? It’s Valve’s platform and the companies’ that sign up to steam’s games, so they still have their side of the game aswell as the customer. One example is updates are often compulsary on steam.

Steam community is awesome in my opinion, it’s like my Facebook in a way. Brilliant stuff if you actually have friends.

I got steam with the HL1 anthology, i didn’t understand what it was back then so just imagined it as a place where all my HL1 games were, then I got orange box and fell inlove with the steam community and it’s just brilliant.

I think all PC games should have an in-store CD release and a Steam release to be honest.

mysteriously, he can post messages here. I wonder now, what would that suppose to mean…

So he should get the steam version.

I lol’ed.^

Steam haters usually just don’t understand what steam is or have some kind of irrational fear of change, then there is the unique breed that has something interesting to say about it.

By the way, I think that person may have been trolling.

If he doesn’t have an internet connection, he won’t be able to go on ebay.

Slash an inconsistent internet connection, like mine. Some days I can’t connect for hours at a time, so offline is an option, which is nice.

What kind of idiot would buy a computer without internet?
Isn’t that the point of a computer?

Computers existed before people had widespread 'net access, you know. There are other things you can do with them. I’ll let you know once I can think of one :fffuuu:

Uhh, minesweeper? Maybe fool around with Windows’ Sound Recorder? Can’t think of much more…

I knew there was one!

I can’t take it anymore!
Ink, Steam rules, and if you don’t like it, you’re just being difficult.

Now, I’m going to make this thread worth the internet space.

These are just a few of the many videos about the sad life of this poor fellow. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, but above all else, you’ll feel much better about your own life after seeing these videos.

Well ORLY? When I had my first comp 11 years ago (Compaq Presario, btw), it was not connected to the internet.
I could make fun distorting parents’ photos in Adobe Photo Deluxe, play HL, play Fallout, play NFS III : Hot Pursuit, watch The Specialist and Mortal Kombat on double-sided DVDs and on top of that, push a green button on my keyboard with crescent engraved in it. Good times, good freaking times.
All of this had nothing to do with the internetz
Hard to believe nowadays, huh, kiddo?

When I had my first comp 15 years ago (MS-DOS ftw), it was not connected to the internet.
I could colour in half drawn images, play Commander Keen, Captain Comic, type in Word, print stuff on the giant printer that was louder then a car. Good times, good freaking times.
All of this had nothing to do with the internetz
Hard to believe nowadays, huh, kiddo?

This is like the third time I’ve seen you advertising this muck. Just post it in “You Laugh, you Lose” and shut up about it. It’s really irritating.

I only put it in pointless and hopefully dying threads, such as this one. But now I’ll follow your advice.

I am actually surprised you haven’t received a stern warning for the blatant thread derailment attempt.

:s hrug:

If he’s insistent on getting WON Half-Life, there are HL1 mods out for WON like Half-Life Decay, etc. However, Steam is much better with the Offline Mode and the awesome skins that you can use on Steam.

Do you REALLY want to talk about some kid’s stupid hatred for a great service?
“OMG i dun lik steam cuz it r drm an drm r fur faggots lol rofl valve r fags lol!!!1111!!!11111!”

You can easily resell steam games, I bought my steam account from some guy in 2005.

Sounds like backseat moderating to me. :3:3:3

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
