How you found Black Mesa

A few months back I saw an article on Kotaku about which game will become the next “Duke Nukem Forever”.

Black Mesa was the first game they listed.

Silly Kotaku, BM is not game :jizz:

i was checking out some HL2 mods on ModDB then found “Black Mesa:Source” and i was like “WOOHOO!”

i just found it and have been waiting eversinse 8-(

and i’m still waiting like anyone else.

i still think the mod will be WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!! (when it comes out)

You mean if it comes out :expressionless:

oh u

nice one

I was looking for a HL version with graphics similar to HL2, that’s when I found bms…exactly what I was looking for, actually it’s even better :stuck_out_tongue:

CTID told me to make an account.

I was like “lolol im gunna surch 4 a mpa of balck meas!” and I saw the link to dis awesome mod

I found it in 2008 on youtube then I forgot about it.

Then I found it again in 2010 when I had beat HL1 on CD (windows XP with a austrailan patch) and now I can’t wait for it to come out but until then I got the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta (may 3rd) and Halo: Reach (Fall 2010).

Do you mean Blackmesa the place if you meant this than when i first played halflife 1 but if you meant blackmesa source my friend sent me a link to the bms trailer

when HL1: Source came out i googled to find it as a stand alone copy without any package with HL2 and so on (i’ve owned all the other HL-games and mods already). so i just typed in google “half life source” a few years ago then i’ve found this site in the search results… i’m not sure, but it must be 4 or 5 years ago now and then i thougt “wow, i’ve found a better HL1: Source - hope that it will come out SOON” (few years ago)

I was searching for the Golden Eye mod when I suddenly stumbled on BM source. It made me very happy!

That’s actually not far off the way I found it. I didn’t get the gold package of HL2 so when I learned of HL:S I wanted it, and I was participating in a Steam forum petition to get HL:S released on Steam as a separate product. In that thread I learned about BM.

If you google “half-life source” this website is the first result, beating the official steampowered store page. :awesome:

Man, I really don’t remember. Probably by Related videos on YouTube.

Suprisingly my 43 year old dad told me, i was 12 at the time and i was just getting into mapping, i was recreating the Hazard Course into the source engine, my dad saw me making it and said, “Hey i heard there are people remaking Half life 1 into the source engine!” We both love half life, so i looked it up on google and found BMS, i freaked out and followed it ever since.

I was a bit disappointed with HL:S (I didn’t realise it was just supposed to be the original half life running on source) and I was looking to see if a mod team had done something better and came accross this. Dammit I still remember kester mapping lol.

lol dredile lucky dude,
i saw bms on GIGA -a german PC-TV-Channel <-(o.O)

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
