How you found Black Mesa

I saw Black Mesa mentioned in the FAQ section of the new Civil Protection/Freeman’s Mind website, so I google’d it to find out what it was refering to. I’m glad I did, 'cos I can’t wait!!!

Found the mod several years ago through ModDB I believe. Been interested in it for quite a while

Moddb I think.

Concerned website. 2006, about the same time as now.

The 2nd Trailer !

ModDB. Did you know that people who commented on the screenshots said they cummed because the pictures were so good? I don’t think HL it sexual in ANY way, except for the headhumpers.

Half-life2.net, when it was first announced.

was searching for half life source add-ons and this popped up in google

I believe it was something like the link in Concerned that I followed first, and at that time the site had lots of flash. I grabbed the BM theme as my startup sound.
Then I lost track of it for a while, to the point of not remembering where I got my startup sound from, and then I think it was the Steam Update mention of it that led me back not so long ago. Only really got into the forums recently tho.
The BM theme available now is slightly different to the one I have as my startup sound - better strings samples I think - so that might help date things…

ModDB. Found it right before it started winning all those OTY awards.

Slipped under my radar for a year or so and then rediscovered it when I was thinking “Weren’t there a few mods being made that were totally kick ass?”

i watched the trailer an machinma’s youtube account

i found it while looking for the dreamcast version of half life on google (the dreamcast version is awesome by the way X3)

Planet Half-Life about 2 or 3 years ago. They had a poll on most anticipated mods for Half-Life 2 and Black Mesa was #1.

Well, in July/August of 2008, i was bored and searched Sonic weird stuff (LOL), and i found a sonic animation with Gmod (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xmg0LWAdWf8 LOL see the description: “The video that started it all”).I thinked: “WTF is that program??” A comment asked bout what game was that and my hero said (Forgot name!!LOL) “It’s Gmod”.
After that, i searched about Garry’s mod (Found Idiots of Garry’s Mod, funny as hell!) and found how to get it, it’s via Steam. Got it from PacSteam (Sorry, i was stupid as the german kid) and automatically started downloading stuff called “Half-Life 2”, “Episode One”; “Episode Two”, “Team Fortress 2” and “Portal”. Then played it, very hard to use, played HL2 maps, said “I didn’t saw cool stuff like this!!”, also i got the Mario and Sonic models, lol, and made silly stuff.
I searched “Team Fortress 2”, and else Valve stuff, i wanted to play these games, but Valve caught me getting ilegal games and banned me (Well, i could login and play downloaded games, but i couldn’t get more games).
I found about playing online on gmod and i wanted to do that, but since the first time it didn’t worked!

Then, i thinked “No more piratin’, this game is great, i want it legal, so i’ll get normal steam and buy Garry’s mod with TF2!” And did that!
About Half-LIfe 1, i didn’t searched about anithing since this year started, 'cos i got hl2 and it’s episodes in April, and i didn’t understanded all the plot. Payed via internet the PS2 version. IT was awesome! Then searching a HL1 walktrough, found black mesa!

Today, i’m making my mod Half-Life: Invasion and learning about the Source Engine, and also awaiting Half-Life 2 Episode three and this mod, Black Mesa.

Wow this was big!

the abridged version: I searched for Half-Life walkthroughs and Black Mesa was one of the results, YAY!

Back in the days when men were men, before the website was animated, and when we were bored we played Picture Pwnage in the off-topic section while we waited for what was then called Black Mesa: Source (that would put us at what, 2005 or early 2006? Sounds right) I downloaded Half Life: Source because I thought that Half Life deserved a remastering, and honestly believed that HL: S was that that remastering. I was sorely disappointed, and went on an hour-long quest to find some group, somewhere, which was giving Half Life the reimagining it deserved. It had to exist!

I came up with nothing.

So, beaten and broken, I returned to my corner in the Steam forums, where I came across a thread with this title:

BM: S IZ DED!!!11 (Paraphrased… don’t remember the exact title, but it was to this effect…)

Intrigued, I read the poorly written and spellchecked thread and, using what little information I could extract from it, googled Black Mesa: Source. They had yet to have a real media release and the forums were nearly empty (except for a few awesome veterans like BlackOp, and how I miss that guy and his beautiful purist nazism; only now do I see the truth to his ideals), but they weren’t dead.

I’ve been here ever since.

I found BMS after finishing half life for the thousandth time and looking up half life mods. Now I’m Happy because Black mesa is teh awesomeness

After buying a really old non-steam version of Half-life at a Good Will (this was before I had a computer with internet just a gaming computer so I had no steam.) and it wouldn’t work I was pissed for a short while then I finally got my hands on a computer with gaming and internet. I bought the orange box and got steam then decided after playing Half-Life 2 that I’d look up Half-Life re-makes and found the website I was greatly impressed. Then I found that typing old Half-Life key codes into steam gives you all the gldsrc games I was very happy when I found that out now I just wait for the release of this which I know will be awesome.

Invasion? Might want a new name :stuck_out_tongue:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
