How would YOU release Black Mesa?

On the homepage id put a big as fuck download button that sais DOWNLOAD THIS BITCH in annoying caps with a flashing button, then under that have “The best quotes of people waiting for Black mesa to be released” and then put the exact time its taken to create this game, then have a troll face thememed (get it! ) to look like gordon freeman at the bottom of the page.

if this happened, all the wait would be so worth it.

One of the devs needs to edit some random old post to have the download link, then post saying “Mod’s done, good hunting!”

I’d personally come to every forum member’s house, slap them in the face with my dick, and toss them a jizz covered balck meas

I’ll be waiting.

in a cereal box.

I would definitely split the game files up into 500 different parts and hide them all over the internet then officially announce that I did so and wait for everyone to find and peice the parts together…

I guess it’s a little over the top but what about punch cards?

Ahhh yes… I would show the download button on the page. The download button would lead you a pay-for Rapidshare-based site. The download (which would be about 10 gigabytes) would have a single notepad file in it. There will be a link in the file which will lead you to another (different) Rapidshare-based pay-for site with restrictions that you must purchase a year’s worth of membership. When you eventually manage to download the game (This time the proper size) you will have to go through install full of retarded pictures and the install would take 3 hours. After all that, you’ll be able to play the game… When you switch it on, there will be a proper menu, but when you try to play, a giant trollface appears with Rick Roll’d… You’d have to go into the console and work your way through various passwords in order to unlock the game.

Dude - I get it already - you’ve lost patience waiting for the mod’s release. You don’t need to express that over and over and over and over. It’s annoying.

I would… I know this is crazy/shocking, but just bare with me. I would, release it!

I would release it by a paying download website, asking a 10$ fee for the game download “to save bandwidth” so basically the game would still be free.

No joking, I would release it after Valve make a big announcement for the next HL game, all of the communication job would be done by valve, everyone would start looking at HL again, playing the series one more time … and BAM. BMS.

in a primary school fete raffle. nothing worse than a school raffle.

a Torrent. It would seed for at least 3 years. With the amount of seeds in the first week it would probably download @5Mb/s.

At your favourite games retailer, with 5 different kinds of exclusive pre-order bonus which arent going to be made available any other way than by purchasing that particular version. Also comes with paid day one dlc
on the disc.

Release the whole thing, but only one map file. Within this map file, there would be a series of clues as to where the follow-on map is stored on the internet, then the same in the next map and so on. (and yes, the first map would be the first part of tram ride.)

People would then appreciate the detail that has gone into the mod, as certain clues would be as small as a serial number on a piece of piping. Somewhere above the ceiling tiles. In the dark. With part of the serial number scratched off.

First post and he’s already been offered a job.
I am so proud Wipes tear off face.

I would found my own company to sell something, maybe some kind of food or little thing. I would charge 10$ per unit.
Then, in every unit I would print one bit of the BMS file, along with the whirlpool hash of the serial number(the position) of that bit.
Forgot to mention that the file would be uncompressed MUAHAHAH

If by job you mean give me a copy of black mesa to playtest at my own leisure before its released with no strings attached then yes, i accept your job.

Now waiting at the post office to intercept.

Hahahaha!

What’s wrong with you guys? My god did all of you just finish a Scrabble session? Lighten up.

+1 To the flash drives at E3 idea. Although it might have… unforeseen consequences. :stuck_out_tongue:

As for how I would release BMS, one word (linked to the download) on a black background surrounded by grey etchings of BMS concept art super imposed on an image of Gordon with his back to the wall, crowbar held diagonally across his chest as he peeks around a dark corner at a pair of zombies fighting over a can of cat food.

The word would be;

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
