If it was me, I would hand it to Valve to be a stand-alone game and replace that stupid HL-Source. Sure, then it would cost $10, but I would demand that they keep it bug-free, upgrade it to new features in whatever Source version is current (2012?), allow it to be modded, and keep the credits of the people who made it. And if possible, if I was a developer, I would take a small commission fee of that $10.

The developers have actually been doing this since 2005, when the mod was finished
