Well, in Half-life 2 it’s said that 10 years has passed,and Gordon was 27 Years old,so that would make him 37,so he’s not that old. But in Half-life 2: Episode 2, it has been retconned to 20 years so,he’s 37 in Half-life 2, 47 in Episode 2 if he wasn’t put in stasis.

Actually no. A birthday is technically a celebration of the date of your birth, not a celebration of becoming one year older, so even though Gordon Freeman would have lived for 27 years, it would still come out to his 47th birthday (give or take depending on how long he actually was stuck in stasis, since it was never specified as exactly 20 years)

The same issue comes up in the classic “Pirates of Penzance” in which the main character has reached 21 years of age and is thus free of his indentures, but the letter of his contract actually states that he is only free after his 21st birthday specifically, and he was born on February 29th. This resulted in the number of actual birthdays being technically only 5.

Of course if Freeman also had his birthday on Feb 29th, then he would really just be coming up on his 12th birthday when 48 years had passed since his actual birth.

The reason behind this, is so he can drink at a legal age.

it’s been stated by several people on various websites. from what i gather, they listened to some voice snippets from the game and to what little back story valve has given out. a lot of people assume the alyx is only 2 during the first game because the only picture you see of her is a photo of eli and his wife holding her as a baby. but, it’s almost guaranteed that most people keep baby pictures around of their kids long after they are grown.(i know my mom has some pictures of me when i was 3 lying around somewhere and i’m nearly 19 now) its just a thing parents do

Gordon is 47 years old. He just possesses the body of a 27 year old.
Now, if the Earth was somehow put into stasis but Gordon was left out of it, then he would be 27 years old but would have the body of a 47 year old.
