How old is Gordon Freeman?

I was sure he was 47. But Stasis pretty much rules that out.

Stasis does not rule that out. It just keeps his body at a 27 year old state. It doesn’t change his actual age. He is still 47 but he is in a 27 year old body…

It’s not rocket science people. It’s not that hard to grasp. :meh:

I’m pretty sure age depends on how long you body exists on the planet, not your mind. For example, then would a 12 year old actually be 10 year old (although there are barely any differences)

Time’s pretty relative mankyman, especially when there’s borderworlds and alien races and shit involved.

Didn’t I hear somewhere that VALVe said HL1 took place in '98? Not sure though, but on the topic of his age, maybe some things are better left unlearned
:what:

Time is relevant in the sense that it has had no effect on the aging of his body due to stasis. He is still 47 years old because time still flowed on Earth.

You don’t have to be on that planet in order to age by that planet’s yearly cycle. If I were on Mars I would still be a certain age on Earth even if it conflicted with my age on Mars.

How do you know Gordon wasn’t asleep most of the time. Would be pretty harsh from gman to keep him awake for 20 years. He also wouldn’t be able to resque the world because he’d be insane from not seeing anyone in 20 years.

:expressionless: He was in stasis. Look it up.

mankyman, you have a point, but what about time travel?
If you travel 20 years into the future, are you then suddenly 20 years older (not physically)?

Being put into stasis is basically travelling in time.

Oh, now I get it, Burn. So it’s not living 20 years in some black void, but rather time travelling. Interesting.

It’s time travelling in the sense that your body is frozen in time. Actually it’s a distinct lack of time travel, while normally everyone travels through time.

Enough of that Half-Life 1 took place in '98 shit, we sorted that the f- out. If you read his acceptance papers it says May 5, 200-

Yes you would suddenly be 20 years older. The Earth still revolved around the sun while you traveled.

You would be to anyone else, but you wouldn’t actually be 20 years older.

You wouldn’t be 20 years old physically but in actuality you would be 20 years old because even if you aren’t there to experience it, your birthday does happen.

That doesn’t even make sense. Imagine I were to travel through time, and I’d end up 20 years from here in the future, how would I actually be 20 years older? I wouldn’t actually be 20 years older, because I travelled through time. I did not experience anything from that.

Your body would still be that of [your age now]. But you are actual would be that of [your age now] + 20. Your actual age is determined by the Earth’s revolution around the sun while your physical age is determined by time.

Time has had no effect on you but the Earth’s revolution has.

Wow.

No because ‘age’ is the physical and mental time your body has lived, going into stasis pauses that, and travelling in time wouldn’t have an effect.

I have not found anywhere that states that there is one type of age that includes physical and mental.

Traveling in time wouldn’t have any effect on how your body ages but it does effect your actual age. Your actual age is just a number of how many years you have been on Earth. When you go into the future, you essentially speed up time, meaning that you have been around on Earth for an extra 20 years.

Your body’s age is that of before you time traveled. It remains the same. BUT your actual age has changed +20 years.

Why do you people find this so difficult to grasp?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
