How old are the half-life 1 fans?

See, I never was any good at discerning tonality through the internet. Still doesn’t answer my original question  … or do I need to hunt for the preexisting “age” thread that you may have already replied to?

You could have ‘observed’ that there was a section titled “Half-Life Series”.

If it has relevancy to Half-Life and not Black Mesa, it should belong there.

59…Do I win?

You win a walking cane and a free weekend on a Florida hotel.

Thanks, but I’d like the AC Cobra and a 3 night stay at Indianapolis…(race day of course)

No. (Sorry)

A cane instead of the crowbar?

OK but would you like me to help you cross the streets on your way there?

I moved this to the Half-Life forum; it seems more relevant here. I don’t see a problem with you posting the topic at all, but the mod boards are strictly for mod discussion.

With regards to the topic, I’m 24, and have been a fan ever since first playing Half-Life way back in the day.

Unfortunately, i think you’re misunderstanding the “spirit” of this post. Clearly, there is a direct relationship between half-life 1 fans and the precedent which inspired this beloved mod. I’m asking the Black Mesa community how old they are. This is in fact a Black Mesa related question. There is no need to sectionalize such a rudimentary discussion. I mean, - we aren’t building a knowledge base or documentation center. I think that forum moderators generally don’t want discussions to spiral out of control (like it has the potential to do now, thanks to the repeated scrutiny my post has been subjected to), and for folks to be generally courteous to one another.

Perhaps, for those who are confused, I should have been much more explicit and the topic should have been “How old are the Black Mesa Fans who are now following the development of Black Mesa as a result of their enjoyable Half-Life 1 experience?”.

Are you insinuating that Black Mesa has no relevancy to half-life 1? I’m somewhat confused. (in response to your comment)

Thanks RapidMonkey - I stand corrected and will happily post questions of this kind in the right place going forward. You’re extremely polite about my mistake. I just hate it when folks bash me over the head with forum rules, when the topic was truly innocent.

I’m 20, got the Half-Life generations pack for £20 when I was about 12. Played it a few times before that, round my mates house after school :stuck_out_tongue:

Nope…Heavy on the gas and light on the brake will do me just fine…
See Ya…

I played it when it first came out. I was 7 then.

About 7 :3

  1. Was finishing college in ‘99 when I began my love affair with everything HL. My first 1st person shooter - Wolfenstein, the original by “id Software”. Ahh, the good ol’ days…

15 :stuck_out_tongue:
I first played half life 1 when I was like 8 though. was scary shit back then.

Half my Steam games list is mods.

I’m 18. I was 8 when I watched my brother play through the entire game (over many nights, of course), and I soon began playing online. I didn’t actually play the singlepayer until I was about 12 though.

Oh God no… we have enough of them down here as it is. DON’T SEND ANY MORE!!!

I’m 17, my little brother is 13, and we’re both huge fans of Half-Life. I played the now-rare Half-Life: Day One demo with my dad when I was around 6 or 7, and I was hampering for the full game for years… I think I was around 12ish when we finally bought the pre-Steam Half-Life Complete Pack. I played those games religiously: Half-Life, OpFor, Blue Shift, even some Counter-Strike and TFC. The high-def pack just made them all the more awesome. Then, I finally got Steam just so I could play HL2, and I loved that, too, although it was a lot different than the first game. And of course the Episodes and Lost Coast and Deathmatch and Garry’s Mod and Synergy and all that good stuff. And then, to my delight, I realized that by renewing my old HL Complete Pack CD code on Steam, I could get the newer Steam versions of all the games! So then I played them all again. I’ve probably used up a quarter of my waking life playing Half-Life games and spin-offs… Hours well-spent.

All that nostalgia is probably a little bit OT, but, hey, it was fun.

Sorry, I know its off topic, but how exactly do you manage that? I have the originals in the generations pack, sounds intriguing :stuck_out_tongue:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
