HL2 Ep3 plot speculation thread (NO SILLY THEORIES)

Magnusson and the casserole in the microwave?

Book 1: Arne Magnusson and the Microwave Casserole

One of the most shocking revelations in the history of humankind. Never before have we seen such a profound turn of events in any video game- let alone art or literature. Truly, this proves Valve’s stories are more groundbreaking than a jackhammer.

ep1 and 2 are just expansions, still considered as a part of HL2

I don’t mind if it is in there, but I really hope it doesn’t take center stage again.

I’m always happy to see weapons that are more than just clicking at something until it dies.

So is Episode 3.

They had a good opportunity to do so. I can’t imagine them finding a good way of showing or mentioning the soldiers being clones now that both the Citadel & Nova Prospekt are gone & I seriously doubt we’d end up at one of the other Citadels.

Which version of H.E.V. suit Gordon will dress in Half-Life 3?

And would you just plz remind of a weapon that doesn’t need clicking?

I think it’s just a reasonable assumption that they have cloning technology. Look at the synths - they can obviously produce them efficiently and if they have the ability to genetically modify creatures to that degree, cloning would be a cake-walk.

I have a pet theory that the reference to “non-mechanical reproduction” in one of the Overwatch’s lines refers to non-cloned procreation, implying cloning is more familiar to them than sexual reproduction.

Because Breen convinced them not to.

I assume it will be the Mark V since that’s what Gordon was wearing at the end of Ep. 2.

100 good-citizen credits equal simulation of reproduction. Probably a citizen can obtain credits by spying about resistance members…

Maybe Kleiner and Magnusson upgrade H.E.V. suit to Mark VI to resist to Advisor’s attack.

Metrocops were promised “non-mechanical reproductive simulation” as rewards for killing enough rebels. Although I’m not quite sure where that sound file was used.

With a rifle you aim at your enemy, then click until they die then reload.
With a gravity gun you find something around you that’s not too big, too small, or too far away, click it, then aim at your enemy, compensate for the weight & distance than click again.
Sure, using the gravity gun might seem simple & mindless with experience, but it’s a totally different experience compared to adding another generic bullet or energy spraying weapon.

goomba stomp

^ Unless it’s the super-gravity gun. Then it really is just click and they die.

Yeah, the full quote is “Rank leaders - reminder: one hundred sterilized credits qualifies non-mechanical reproduction simulation”, and I think it’s just generally played while the metrocops are idle. It’s kind of ambiguous as to whether the simulation or the reproduction is non-mechanical.

Interestingly, there’s another quote played when they kill Gordon that says “Reward notice: Protection Team member, your family cohesion is preserved”, which presumably means their families won’t be relocated away from them if they brutalize/kill enough rebels. The Combine sure do know how to motivate people when they need to.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
