HL2 - disable crosshair..

I have decided to try playing without the crosshair in half-life 2. I managed to disable the crosshair, but I cannot figure out how to disable the lines where the ammo and health info would be. Does anyone know the solution? Thank you.

( ):meh:

Thank you, will that take away everything from the HUD? I still want to see my health and ammo, just not this ( ). I do not know what to call it…

sorry, I should have googled. That does the trick, I love you!

I replied too soon, That was not it! … I am talking about the lines that border the info. They are brackets! The brackets around the brackets.

wasn’t it something like drawhhud 0 ?

No, I believe that would get rid of everything. I do not want that… I just want the brackets to be gone

Oh okay.

crosshair 1/0

duh.

I did not ask how to disable the crosshair though… I should change the subject header

I believe what you’re talking about is the quickinfo, in the settings.

If not, take a screenshot and show us what you mean.

I don’t think it’s even possible to do it with console commands, you can try to find that texture file and replace it with a completely transparent image.

I’m not even sure if it’s in the original Half-Life 2.

It’s on by default in Episode One, but can be disabled in the “Mouse” options menu.

It’s on permenantly in Episode Two, as far as I’m aware, it’s impossible to disable it.

It was, and still is an option in HL2. In mouse options, just like in Episode 1.

Oh. Alright, then. I always had it turned off, I didn’t like it. Except for in Episode Two, when I didn’t have a choice.

If you still want the curved health and ammo meters but not the borders around the meters, then you’ll have to get (or make) a custom HUD because it’s either borders with meters or nothing.

Is that what you mean?

EDIT: I’ve created three different “options” that I think you’re talking about. Did you want A (“hud_quickinfo 1”), B (edited HUD), C (“hud_quickinfo 0”), or something totally different?

It sounded like he wanted to get rid of the curved meters but was having issues doing so.
However I don’t remember that they exist if quickinfo is off anyway, like you say. In which case, all he needs is crosshair 0 + disable quickinfo (where possible).

oh oh oh oh~!!! I want B! I want B! How do I do that!???

Sorry Catz, unless you know how to mod: take a screenshot of A, take a screenshot of C, then edit them together.

I only use the quick info, no normal hud for me.

I see what the original poster is talking about. Even when you set crosshair 0 and hud_quickinfo 0, you still end up with 2 thin curved static lines where the quickinfo would normally be shown. He’s trying to get rid of these too so that he has absolutely no assist to his aiming, but still keep the rest of his hud that shows his ammo and health at the bottom of his screen.

Be a man and try to guess your health and remaining ammo. I’m sure gordon is badass enough to survive without any hud whatsoever.
