THROW THE BOREALIS OFF THE CLIFF
Seriously, I will be really disappointed if that doesn’t happen in all its cinematic physics glory.

Make that the game’s last physics puzzle. The most epic see-saw ever made. YEAH.
I took dat ice breaker and THREW IT ON THE GROUND
That would actually be amazing. Like, the Bridge in EP2 was a joke about the see-saws from Half Life 2… but this would be like the icing on the cake.
There was a mission in Mass Effect 2 that was sort of like that. Even though the whole thing was scripted, it still looked and felt awesome. I can only imagine how incredible it would be to have a major setpiece like that in Source.
I don’t remember that.
Ahh. I knew I missed some of the missions in that game. I had no idea that mission even existed.
i really don’t consider that the borealis would be explorable, it will be filled with ice or when gordon gets there it will be already looted by the combine also the citadel was way bigger and was about 3-4 chapters, the entire game can’t be on the borealis right.
Er, what? They can make it so that the Borealis has stuff in it without being forced to set the entire game there. They can make the length and pacing vary as necessary, it’s not fixed because of anything.
That leaked concept art showed them near a crashed helicopter on an ice plain looking at a mini-citadel of some sort. That’s two more possible settings right there, and likely also an occupied Kraken base…
seems that Gabe and J.J. Abrams are announcing an half-life movie but nothing about HL3, :hmph:
You act like that doesn’t make sense.
maybe they’ll make a star trek game together
a valve star trek game would be awesome
“Stars of Blood cancelled”
I hope a double post is forgiven, since it’s been a few days.
Having an argument with one guy about how spending money on x videogame was a waste made me wonder, what does that mean, and look at other videogames of today and linear corridor shooters such as Half-Life.
Spending $60 and getting done with in two sittings (8-10 hours) is common, yet Zombie Studio’s upcoming Daylight is only 30 minutes in length and will cost $20 but the game generates content each time, meaning it’s for multiple sittings and a different experience each time.
Yet the latter has been criticized because it’s short and overpriced for such, tho most games, no matter how many times you play them won’t change, neither offer any other kind of replay value mostly aren’t criticized, as they make up the majority.
So what is more important, good length or replay value, and which provides a good investment in a long run.
Obviously both, but if I had to choose, I’d take the latter.
Not to start a war or something, but on our local gaming site, a guy with Gordon avatar commented on how boring and repetitive Crysis is in terms of gameplay and that good graphics don’t make a good game (something I agree with) but the first part stroke me as Crysis offers much more in gameplay department than Half-Life does, at least in my opinion (more tactical, more options and wider environments)
That makes be believe that HL3 wouldn’t succeed with the same old formula, and should provide a “New Game +/Continue with Playthrough 2” modes. I mean, do you think it’s worth half a decade+ of waiting and full price to destroy the Combine one day and not touch the game again for another year or so?
There’s no reason to replay it again subsequently.
/So yeah
Maybe/No
Valve cares a lot about replayability more now than ever, thats something we should not worry about on the next HL.
Portal had “advanced chambers” something like this is welcome, also stronger enemies should appear sooner on higher difficulty or something like that, to provide some challenge to veterans.
I don’t know about you, but half life games are surprisingly fun for me to play again and again. Most games bore me on my 2nd play through, but half life never did.
If it still concerns you, when you watch a movie or hear an album, it doesn’t matter how fast it’s gone, it’s the quality of the experience that matters. Same thing I think with a game, especially such a highly choreographed series as half life is.
The HL games are surprisingly replayable. I know I’m not the only one on here with 100+ hours.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
