the best nano was the first one, you can easily mod the firmware to play mp3’s, ogg, flac, play any freeware game that was ported to it (there are about 20 good ones) plus any GB/GBC game on it and watch avi/mpeg2 encoded movies using rockbox/ipodlinux
recently the nano 2nd gen was also hacked, it only supports rockbox, still much better than using itunes

That looked really cool, until I saw the price tag: $179 for a 16 gig, that’s absolutely absurd! The only advantage of the older nanos was they were insanely cheap. It’s size was actually a bad thing; it’s much easier to lose. Anything that fits easily in your pocket is small enough, no need to go that much further, so if you’re gonna shell out 180 dollars might as well buy a zuneHD, it’s cheaper!
EDIT: of fuck I just realized that thing is to replace the medium ipod, not the tiny ass one. That’s even worse.
Actually, I think I’m going to buy this just for the value of it being A WATCH (I’ll just clip it to an elastic band or superglue a watch wristband to it). I’ve had problems in the past with the durability of iPod Touches (I broke one when I dropped it on my work desk’s leg from about two feet up) and I use my shuffle clip all the time, because I mostly JUST listen to music. So this seems like the most reasonable replacement for me.
Buy one of the 16 gb normal zunes, you won’t have to deal with itunes and you won’t have an mp3 player so small you’ll lose it in a day. And the mp3 player ui is way better.
