i’m not trying to justify its purchase by any means, i think the price tag is fucking retarded, but the fact that its apple and its small with a multitouch display will obviously get a huge amount of purchases for it.

I’m probably going to buy this to replace my first and only iPod, a 2nd gen shuffle that I got for my birthday back when they came out. I liked it for its size, even though it couldn’t hold all of songs.
Buy a shitty 40 dollar mp3 player at your local electronics store instead, it’ll actually be worth the price. Or, buy an old nano or buy a small Zune.
i got a nano 4g when it came out and it still works perfectly, so that’s not too bad.
I have a 32 GB iPod Touch. I think I’m set for a while. I think Apple does touch screens really well, but this one is so small that it’s not worth it in the slightest. Unless the buttons are going to be like the shuffle where all it is is a play button with a pause, and next/previous track buttons on it. There isn’t much else you could display on a screen that small.
Also, to people complaining about the price, everything Apple makes is overcharged, but the price points are exactly the same for the nano, the previous generation one was also $150-$170.

They sell like hot cakes in pretty much every country all over the world. It’s one of Microsoft’s most successful projects yet. The Zune has shaped the portable mediaplayer market as we know it today.

Zune market share dropped to 2% last year (it never breached 15%), while iPods stay at 65-75% percent. And it is still struggles to go worldwide. So much for widely adapted.
