HEV suit.

Everyone wants to make this suit high-tech and fancy. Most of my approach with the suit has been to make it feel older, bulkier, lower-tech than the Mark V. That’s how it’s supposed to be.

That’s why I’m glad you’re leading the team, not them.

seconded.

Thirded.

That’s how the older one seemed old. I find a lot more requests in detail for this game than in most of Valve’s forums anyway, so don’t feel bad. Heh, although I do agree, the originals seemed more leather-shiny like. :stuck_out_tongue:

They use the same material, it’s just rendered differently. I find it easy to read in the original when it’s not set to Software for instance, so maybe that’s your problem?

Yeah, I actually like it a lot as well. Not really fitting for this game, but I still love the look.

Whoops I saw this pic on another site but it might have just been a picture from next to the real one being compared to the old one I just saw a new pic but it looks a bit bulky.

Seriously, use some punctuation.

The metal parts on the original were much thicker than the BMS model. Not as huge as the pictures posted above, but still noticable.

They also should be more yellow, like the original model.

Don’t eat me[/SIZE]

I like the color in the BMS one, but I agree that the original was thicker. I may have exaggerated a little bit in my mockups but thats the point I was trying to get across, the idea of armor plates rather than different colored patches sewn onto the material.

Mattemuse, Personally I like your first proposal. I especially like the idea of protecting the back of the hands with something rigid. I suppose that getting your hand risking being crushed or guillotined by some of the machinery that can be seen in the specimens test room should make them a sensible need. The only thing that would go close to hand armoring on a civil setting are … I guess … butcher’s ringmail gloves and they do nothing against crush hazards.

So … hmm … for what it’s worth, I like the concept

Now, on to some HEV questions that keep riddling me:

  1. How does it feel to stealth around while wearing a bright ORANGE suit?
  2. How the hell does Gordon manage to SWIM in it? :stuck_out_tongue:
  1. It’s bright-ass orange so that people operating heavy machinery don’t hit you, and just in case you end up bein’ a pansy-bitch, they can find your dead body. It’s not a suit that is meant for stealth. If it were, he’d carry a katana.

  2. Gordon Freeman = Jesus, we only see him swimming because we can’t comprehend him walking on the water.

I was referring to some of the stealth-related posts that sometimes pop up

…,This is remake, so they can edit it a bit.

You do realise that the top right picture is what the HEV suit arms look like in the mod?

Whoa, I thought this thread was about a Tron remake for a second…

But seriously, the current arms are good enough, but it would be nice if they had a bit of sheen in them.

Yup, i know what i am talking about, top left is original half-life,top right is black mesa source, and under is edited picture.

Your English is getting much better these days Eric.

Getting much “better” or much better?:3

Impressive. But no, I wasn’t being sarcastic if that’s what you mean. Although I think the chat room is still a bit much for you to keep up with.

Nah, i don’t even want to type goodly in the chat room, because the topic chat is random.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
