HEV suit.

Well, things that are powered, generally generate a certain amount of heat and rather than boil the individual in the suit, ventilation wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Check Gordon suit in HL1 in Raising the bar and see for yourself for air vents or something like that.

What about those of us who don’t have a copy? Ah fuck it I’m gonna order it even though I hate reading.

Do you not watch the Simpsons?

Not on a regular basis ( read: no. )

Will the suit have sprint? Since it’s normal that a man running away from Black mesa would SPRINT LIKE HELL!

If you’d watch simpsons you’d know that speed-holes in the hood of your car make it go faster.

Assuming you’re referring to this picture: https://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/half-life/en/images/4/4c/Art-gordon-greybg.jpg
you can clearly see that the black lines an the hands and thighs are just as solid as the orange, and are the same if you look at the model in-game. Not an air vent, not even a speed-hole.

They’re just neat little chunks in the suit’s design is all. They have no purpose other than lookin’ cool.

Assuming that image is from some sort of official source and not fan art, I’m definitely going to have to rethink my concept. Where’s it from?

Valve’s Half-Life Art Book, Raising the Bar. Page 30 to be exact.

I wanted to do one closer to the original, but I ended up taking some creative liberties.

I think BM’s is as close as you can get, the exposed circuit board part and oversized hand plates just look gaudy. As for the hexagonal pattern: Crysis much?

True, it is a bit gaudy. I think you can see from the original screenshot (top left) and the HL1 gordon concept that the hand plates were originally quite a bit bulkier than black mesa’s model, especially the top of the hand.

I’m thinking this is one of those instances where simpler is better. I figure the HEV suit was designed with a more utilitarian sensibility rather than going for style, or… Uh… Speed.

Here’s my “close to original” sketch

no idea

The one in the upper left appears to be from HL: Source, yes?

Considering you can actually read something written within the game environment, yes, I would say it’s the high resolution HL: S.

Wow. In all honesty, I really like this sketch. Nicely done

The gloves should be SHINY! Look closely!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
