HEV suit.

I think the only change that should be made in the curent arms is to make them a tad thinner.

Well, the idea is that the Mark IV from Half-Life is older and a lot less high-tech than the Mark V from Half-Life 2, so those thick and bulky arms are understandable.

If i were to make a serious suggestion that didn’t involve a total redesign, it would be to make the armor plate on the back of the hand thicker, like the original HL1/HL: S model. I think this would make the extreme thickness of the forearms look a little less ridiculous, because it would make the visual transition between the arm and the hand appear smoother.

Am I the only one who thinks the arms look the same size as they are in HL2?

No.

There’s a lot more polygon detail on the hl2 suit that makes the thickness appear justified. And it still appears thinner to me, especially since areas of the forearms are inset from the wrist cuffs.

I think the hands should look like they’re made out of a thicker material, and not just one-piece. Maybe not thicker armour, but at least armour that covers a little more area. At the moment, they look a little like latex gloves with orange bits on.

I think they’re fine as they are.

QFT

Which is what the originals always looked like to me.

Yeah the H.E.V suit is fine as it is now

While this is going, why don’t the dev team add missile pods and jet packs to the hev suit? Oh and also Nuke launchers, that would be fun wouldn’t it? Oh and change the suit to some other colour While they’re at it.

I’d just like the gloves to look a bit more protective. As it is, they’re very tight-fitting and thin. Pretty, but not very protective, like using a painting as a shield.

EDIT: I guess I’d like them to look similar to the gloves on the Mk 5 suit.

When it comes out, you can play hL2 instead.

You guys should seriously whine more about other people’s critiques and comments, its great. The best part is that you literally have no answer for why its different from the original (which had thicker armor plates on the hand, not orange latex), all you can do is parrot “I like it how it is” over and over, ad nauseum. If constructive criticism bothers you that much, I’d consider stopping reading/replying/bumping this thread.

Because it’s a re-imagining of the game, not the same damn thing. Also, you are looking at WIP. They could be yellow with monkey’s on them for all we know when released.

I never thought of it that way…
MUTINY!

[/joke]

The looked pretty thin and pointless in the original to me, too. /shrug

Only dev’s can answer you at the time and the have other things to do. Like Repzik said, it’s not HLS but BM with it’s own vision of HL. And with WIP material, we don’t have more clues than you.
All we can do is talk about our own preferences and when BM is out, we’ll keep the suit like it was design or new models will be created by the comunity, even you 'cause your vision of the suit is nice.

Hi, I was just reading this thread, and I was hoping to give a suggestion on the HEV suit.

in my impression I think the gloves need more of a softer snake sort of leather to cover, but I do like the rubberized orange texture used on it(for the BM version of the model).

Another thing was the orange metal around the arms on the BM version looks a bit weird I mean if you look at it you would instead finding it to have a more scratched metallic texture it has a more of a scratched plastic texture to me.

I think that Gordon Freeman’s suit should be more like a lighter and more fitting version of the fall out 3 power armour also painted and looks like they had resources to make it.

I don’t mind you guys criticizing me for this(actual I think it is healthy to take criticism), or flame me for it too. I just like to hear other peoples impression on this.

EDIT: when I meant more fitting, lighter, and to make it look like they had the resources to make it. I meant by painting it having the shoulder plates to be removed.

and instead of having what looks like a drawer for a chest plate, having two metal orange plates at the chest and back with the AI computer attached to the front chest plate.
