Help us make an awesome wiki!

It is an old media, found in the 404 pages. It is from 2007 (according to the file metadata).

The redirect icon (And probably some others) looks quite ugly on the dark background, any chance getting it changed?

I think that you should update these 2 screenshots from apprehension :

to

(Kim Dahlgren portfolio)

True, but we have a confusing detail here. The images on Kim’s portfolio are really different from the ones on the wiki, but the images of Kim have the “Source” in the watermark.

Wich one is the most recent?

EDIT: I already uploaded the pics, but not over the “old” ones. Let’s make this a rule for official media from the team: Keep side-by-side in the wiki different versions of the same scene for archiving purposes. The oldest go to Redesign History and the most recent stays in the Media section. This way we can see the differences between versions and see how the scene evolved during the development.

EDIT 2: I created a category for everything related to the Black Mesa Environments, a thing that I felt lacking in the wiki. There are the environmental hazards and props & textures made by the team (made most to showcase them with technical details… In the future we could put their gameplay purposes too). Soon someone can put there articles about BM flora & fauna and others. The category is pretty rough yet, but feel free to improve it with icons and texts!

cool you found a place to put my boxes :stuck_out_tongue:

Also yes, One of the primary reasons for this wiki is the archival of the mods development progress. The only time you should save over/update a picture is if there is an update to the physical image its self, not the content. An example of this is you have found a higher resolution version, one saved in better quality, or one that has less obscuring elements (hud /logos). If you have a photo of a newer build of the mod that contains new revisions of an original photo upload as a separate new image, place on the corresponding page and move the old one to the redesign gallery.

EDIT: Thanks to rm [COLOR=‘RoyalBlue’]j[COLOR=‘Purple’]q[COLOR=‘Red’]u[COLOR=‘SandyBrown’]e[COLOR=‘Yellow’]r[COLOR=‘PaleGreen’]y is now working on the wiki. I’m changing over a few of the scripts (footers) over to a fancy sliding one. It’s working now but it needs a little more visual feedback.

Sorry for the weeks’-long necropost but I wanted to ask before I changed anything:

Do you think Anthony was being serious in this statement, because if so then we need to remove him from the ‘current developers’ list.

It’s possible that he was merely joking. I’ll look more into it, I suppose.

Any official changes to the dev team are found on the team website page. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Alrighty

I’ve been working a bit on the Hazards page, as it looked like it could use some content- I’ve written overviews of both environmental hazards and explosives, and written about each form as well. However, I’m not sure I’ve written it in a way that really fits the wiki- it reads like a strategy guide. Anyway, that’s the starting point, so if anyone wants to edit it to reword the info I have down, feel free to.

That’s a good starting point. In my opinion tho, a little bit of humor concerning all those danger description could be nice and pleasant to read. But that’s just me.

Anyone else think the Coop and Deathmatch FAQ’s should be merged into one “Multiplayer” FAQ?

They’re both really short (with the Coop FAQ being just 2 questions).

OK, the spamming is getting a little annoying. I purpose that only autoconfirmed users can create new pages.

After the last large spamming wave a few months ago I talked with RM and got the autoconfirmed user settings working so that a user becomes conformed [COLOR=‘DimGray’][retracted for security]. This way newly created accounts will not be able to make new spam pages. (99% of problem edits fall into the these categories)

Implementing this only requires inserting/editing 2 lines in the LocalSettings.php and will remain compatible with all media wiki updates.

Cool, thanks ram. See how it holds up in the coming days. (been two spam waves just today before the update!)

EDIT: Works!

Dumb spammers are still creating accounts, they wont be able to do much with them tho.

Um, there’s now a big “Site Under Construction” message on the wiki that links to a site that attempts to install a trojan. And also, the under construction message is literally ON TOP of the wiki itself. Zoom out and you can see the wiki poking it’s head out from behind.

Someone (probably a bot) futzed with a template to paste the ad over-top the Wiki main page. I have just registered an account and reverted that edit. Should be fine now until either the admins get ahold of the one that did it and ban it or semiprotect that template editing or the bot reverts that reversion. :hmph:

Edit: The bot also seems to have did the same thing to the MP5 page. I have reverted that edit as well. Fuckin’ bots.

thanks for the reverts.

Banned and locked down a few templates that I forgot were still unprotected.

This was not a bot as the page that had the code inserted was a special template created just for this wiki, so it was a user targeting our wiki.

If something like this happens again (continued spamming, edit waring, wiki defacing, etc) feel free to pm me, They are all forward to my e-mail and I usually have it open on my phone or computer within 30 seconds. Just put wiki in the title somewhere.

How dare they larrup our pulchritudinous dilatory Black Mesa!

Ok this is still kinda annoying. With the latest wiki update that ram installed the spammers are now gagged BUT the spammers operating the bots are still running them. So accounts are being generated but not used. Normally this wouldn’t be a huge problem but the possibility of some one amassing accounts is a security concern. The account registration is filling up the recent changes list. Also there have been a few instances when normal users have registered accounts near when the bots do making it impossible for me (or any administrator for that matter) to make a distinction between real and spam accounts.

If the numbers don’t go down soon either the registration page needs to be tweaked to short circuit the bot or a CAPTCHA may be in order. (Installing the reCAPTCHA plugin is 3 contigious lines of code and a file upload)

Like anti-bot thing that is “$#^$^: Can you read these?”

please enter this Captcha: Ze3rA

That is incorrect.

ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
