Help us make an awesome wiki!

Dev Sez: Stop yer complainin’ and be patient.

Honestly I don’t see what a big page of random dev comments is going to do. We’ve already scoured our public comments and added relevant information to the wiki in an organized way. If people really wanted this, why wouldn’t they just click on our forum names and read every post we’ve made? It’s practically the same thing.

I don’t think people really want to just read a huge page of random information, do they? Isn’t it BETTER to have an organized database, where you can read all the information you want about a specific topic? Isn’t that what the wiki already is?

If you just want to learn…than just sit at the wiki and read stuff. You can read everything about the mp5 on one page, instead of sifting through a huge page of random information and getting chunks of mp5 info every now and then.

I just can’t see how that is “better” in any way.

Not so much “better,” but “more.”
At least I think that was the reasoning.

The release is taking a long time. People are simply looking for ways to fill the time until BM is released, perhaps even hoping to find a slew of all new information that was overlooked. The wiki is one outlet, but unfortunately I think people take it a little too far…how much detail do we really need prior to release? After all, it’s Half-Life and we all know its going to kick ass.

Perhaps we should simply close down the forum and wiki completely, just to ensure all the devs have zero unnecessary distractions lol.

Aww. :3

The devs don’t pay attention to any distractions anyway, unless they are sexual favours.

The wiki’s fine. If people want to know about the mod they can read the FAQ, the wiki and the forums. What more do they need?

A girlfriend?

bravo

…it was a rhetorical question I’m presuming

That sounds like a great idea! Looks at sig

i’m resigned to accepting that it’s out when it’s out, simple as that… But here on this website we’re like camels or some other thirsty animal waiting on the outside of some floodgates waiting for them to open. Or atleast, to be thrown some watery bones… All the while we look longingly at screens and alpha clips already released and imagine the devs splashing around on the other side.

And sure if we look around us there are abundant gaming oasis’s all around us… But we want THIS ONE dammit!.

Yeah THAT’s why people want the dev sez section… Scavanging for moist bones

You’re gonna have to look elsewhere for one of those my friend :expressionless:

:expressionless:

i was thinking it could be more like this: https://www.synergymod.net/Development

just simple points, just so we can get an idea of where the mod is eg:
24/03/2010 beta play test of “We’ve got hostiles” underway.
30/03/2010 test complete changes noted and underway.

something small just so we can get an idea of where you guys are

The idea is to compile all the little bits of information that leek out from the dev posts on the forums in one place so people can see a “raw stream” of updates without having to scour the forums or look at the recent change log on the wiki. The information that we have gathered is nothing as comprehensive as build log or development time line, but what we get out of it is answers to a few unknowns. So most of the information that we gather is just clarification on the maybes. For example the two most recent ones, it has been confirmed that there will be no hazard course, instead there will be GUI hint boxes[1]. And that there is no longer co op[2].

So we wont be getting any “extra” info. We would just begin compiling all of the information as we get it.

That’s the dev’s prorogative. If other developers can find the time to implement that sort of thing then great. I think BM developers are more concerned with getting the mod out - and since it will get done whether we like it or not, this sort of thing will only slow them down. We have the wiki, that should be enough.

Found her…

Madame palm and her five lovely daughters :expressionless:

hahaha, uhhhhhh. i love you guys.

So there is an faq here in the forums and there are three faq in the wiki. I added links in all areas to direct folks to the other areas should there be more questions.

yes no? Stupid idea? Formatted wrong? Take it out? Great Idea? meh?

What’s happening? Listen, mmm, yeah, I’m going to have to go ahead and ask you to…:jizz:

No, I think it’s a good idea.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
