Hi all. I think I only have like one other post on the forum from a month ago, so I’m pretty lowly here. But I was going through the Wiki a little and have a suggestion, feel free to ignore it if you must.

On the ‘Chapters’ page, shouldn’t the bottom row of thumbnails/icons be blank, or have a question mark, much like some of the icons on the ‘Characters’ page? Only because we haven’t seen these areas in BM, and so it implies that they are still a mystery to the wiki-reader before they even view the article.

Also, it would retain consistency with the ‘Characters’ page, where unrevealed characters (Barney, Kleiner…and I think one other) only have a question mark logo (as opposed to images of them from HL1)

Natedog said exactly what is the reason of the question mark as placeholders.

They are there to show clearly that the characters/areas wasn’t revealed by the devs until now. To keep the suspense.

Also, the wiki is about Black Mesa, and not about HL1. So, why the hell put HL images there? Some people not even know the difference between a BM screenshot and a HL one - specially inside a thumbnail. Imagine a guy that never knew the existence of the forum, and knows almost nothing about BM. He checks the wiki and thinks “Eh? This is the Xen from Black Mesa? WTF… Is a shit! Look at that Nihilanth… Crap!”. This could sound exagerated, but it happens.

Awww, who went and changed my pretty chapters thumbnails, I spent quite alot of time doing those. To be honest, some of those pictures representing the chapters could be much better. And the question marks look kind of shit too.

I think we should use HL1 images as placeholders in the thumbnails, and if not, then remove all HL1 images from the wiki.

There is no reason we should have a question mark for the Xen thumbnail, then have HL1 pictures in the article anyway.

Anyways we have a template now, so all thumbnails can be uniform. If you don’t like it, you can easily change it by downloading the template.

It was almost a unanimous decision, though, to switch them to question marks, so its not changing.

Can you change the image for Inbound? It’s kind of hard to see the tram, and there is media available which is far better than that shot.

I hate the question marks, it’s better to at least put something there even if it is a HL1 screenshot, not just a lame question mark. Also, the Xen thumbnail is called Nihilanth, might want to change that aswell.

No, Fridge… NO! It was already decided by the community. Respect that decision in the same way I respected when they decided to replace my thumbnails.

EDIT: A humble suggestion for you, Deathmonkey. Just reduce the size of the question mark to show it entirely. The color you chose for it is great, cause make it more subtle. Keep it.
