Hazard Course Remake

Before we actually get to making progess, I’m wondering what are we going to do with the parts where the scientist compliments you?I have my doubts about Michael Hillards voice since it was probably voice progessed.

I don’t remember it was my idea for the paintball thing, though I could be high when I wrote that.

Who thinks Mark & Paul will ever release the Black Mesa Source code though?

Assuming my mind isn’t just being a prick to me, I remember there was some talk about potentially releasing the source code, but the entire team had to agree on it, or something along those lines. The memory’s pretty vague.

It’d be worth a shot at least to contact Hillard, I suppose. If that fails we might find someone else that can do the voice similarly, or maybe the last resort of splicing some new ones together out of the files already at our disposal. “Very good. [We’ll take it from here.]”

Teunissen says Sisk has her voice files (she recorded before the course was cut) so hopefully we’ll be good on that front and the guard doesn’t require anything new as far as I can remember.

I hope Kevin can give it to us, so we wont bother Teunissen.I don’t really understand it why the whole team has to agree on it to release it, while 3 people where working on the source code :expressionless:

As I said I could just be remembering wrong, or it could even be one of those rare-ish cases where I get something unofficial mixed up with being official.

So yeah, it seems like we’re good on voices. Worst-case scenario we have to make do with modified versions of HL1’s files (ohgawdno), but we’ve got time to figure this out.

Is anyone in for some new choreography?Just asking :freeman:

There’s also an overview / a layout for HL1’s Hazard Course:

Don’t know if that helps anything (or anyone), though.

Well it kind of helps…

If anyone did a remake of HazardCourse in the past feel free to post the .vmf’s and .bsp  .

My idea’s for the Hazard Course

You start in a tram system that rides you to Sector A Training Facilitys, and when the train stops a security guard will open it for you.Sector A will have the same entrance as Sector C.When you’re in the facility someone you are heading to the main hall of the Hazard Course. The scientist will speak to you about the HazardCourse, and will open a door for you.Just an idea :p.

I’m having problems merging this.
I can’t find any errors in the compile log, and even though I fixed all the invalid solids and deleted some unnessecary entities the silo still wont show up.Even compiling the silo .vmf itself does not even work :/.

Since I might as well post this

The bit of the hazard course I was working on that I have completed atm

I’m going to keep working on it but I thought you guys might want to have a peek

Map

A few shots, pretty obviously no where near done

Looking forward to this part implemented in the mod

Its not official, though if we can finish this before Xen or future updates, I hope the Black Mesa team will take this in consideration to add this in Black Mesa :stuck_out_tongue:

The beginning looks pretty nice, but the HEV room looks different from the original in my opinion.Looks very good though, hope you’ll continue it

Indeed, and keeping a same constance in Hazard Course is a must

So use the same textures and models as in BM and more or less the same map as the original

Looks pretty nice, but I’m missing the huge silo.

I’ve been tinkering with Faceposer a bit to learn. If there’s no takers I could probably do some placeholder stuff at least.

That’s odd. Wanna send over your .vmf and see if it works for me? Never heard of a problem like this before.

I’ll upload it tommorow, currently doing some office work :expressionless:

The reason I changed the look of the HEV room was because I was going for more of a redesign than a direct conversion I just think it doesn’t make much sense to have an entire sector dedicated for training and have it look like a completely rundown area

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that. It seems like the majority (including me) likes the idea of a recycled section of Black Mesa.

But I do agree that it could do with at least a somewhat knew look. Keep it inline with the rest of Black Mesa.

We.
Need.
Concept Artists.

I’ve contacted Michael Tannock to prop model for us.He said yes, but we still need some concept art for i.e the HEV container and the Gina Cross hologram.

Michael Tannock is currently modeling a Gina model for us.He will post screenshots of his progess on the forum.

Oh wow, that’s a load off. I just remembered, in Black Mesa the long-jump module scene was ridiculously fancy. Should we have that simply propped up on a pedestal or try to do something more with it?

I merged our maps and it’s working fine for me. However as I mentioned to you before a good bit of the brushwork needs to be redone, as there are some pretty blatant errors and leaks.

We could use the dispenser from the Lambda Complex, though I think it will take alot of space and would not really make sense to put a multiple item dispenser in a training facility.
Can you upload the .vmf and the .bsp?

Yeah. Maybe we can get some sort of wall-mount like Half-Life’s Lambda Core. Something simple, at least for now.

Files sent.

Really happy this is starting to go somewhere.

So which files do we need now, if we want to have a preview look on it?
