Hazard Course Remake

Ac3d confirmed for project writer. ^-^

Edit: Alright, I’ve got the Dropbox account set up so we can access the files easily. If you’re working on the project and would like to store your files in the account, say so and I’ll PM you the log in information.

Hopefully there will be more people that would like to help us  .

I’ll repeat that I’d be up for some small voice acting for a fem scientist, if the need arises. We’ll see

Please read this before you will help us.
1.We are recreating the Hazard Course
2.We are not changing the Hazard Course in ways enabling it to no longer be the Hazard Course
3We do not have access to Black Mesa’s source code, meaning no custom weapons/AI.
3.1. No Paintball fights
3.2. No “time trial” mode or leaderboards
4.We have the Hazard Course, we know about the Hazard Course, we have a general idea of what the Hazard Course used to be
5. Anyone that knows what they’re doing can help
5.1. You’re not getting paid
5.2. We aren’t either, though, so it’s cool
5.3. There’s lots of mapping to be done, but concept art for said mapping is needed
6.No, you cannot have the files unless you are actively working on the project
7.We know what we are doing completely
7.1. We mostly know what we’re doing
7.2We’re doing this because we want to, we can, and because of nostalgia
9.We know everyone knows how to play. So what?
9.1 If you’ve complained about the crouch-jumping you have no room to complain anyway.

EDIT:
~Off topic (kind of)
A friend of mine tried to recreate the Hazard Course also 2 weeks ago.
This is his result:

I’m pretty sure most people get that much without reading that, haha.

So let’s see. JeffMOD, Box and I have done some mapping, dky.tehkingd.u has volunteered for mapping, but nothing more so far, Jokerine for possible female sci voices, and Deathmonkey has offered Concept work.

Okay, it’s starting to shape up.

Huh, I havent seen JeffMOD’s progess yet?

He mentioned something about wanting to make reasonable progress before showing screenshots. But from what I’ve seen of him over the years he’s a pretty cool guy so I’ll take his word for it.

Perhaps this will need its own thread in Sector C, if it’s more of a project than a suggestion now.

Havent been here for quite some years :pirate:.
I hope it looks good  .

EDIT:For the users who got acces to our dropbox account, make sure to send to many Half life fans and let them registrer on dropbox.Every registration gives us 500 mb more (up to 16 gb) and maybe we can store the whole game into it.

Mememememe :stuck_out_tongue:

A moderator simply moving the thread should be sufficient if this qualifies for Sector C.

Soon as you got some HC files for storin’ lemme know and I’ll send you the deets.

Sorry for being an idiot, but clarify please?

“6.No, you cannot have the files unless you are actively working on the project”

Wait what  ?

@dky

I think he means you have to show some of your previous maps you’ve made.

I’ll clarify this in that he means send the referral link, but I don’t think we’ll be needing that much space. It’ll be much faster to obtain Black Mesa from the official sources, and there’s no way we’ll be reaching 2 gigs for this project.

We’re using the Dropbox account so those working on the project have access to the files. I meant whenever you have some files to upload say so, but never mind that, just check your inbox

I forgot to mention I can also help with making closed captions, if need be!

You know, I just realized something. There’s nothing different between Black Mesa jump height and HL2 default jump height. Take a look:

Sauce: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Dimensions

I just tested these dimensions in Black Mesa and the same applies.

Maybe everything is lower and flatter in HL2 :stuck_out_tongue:

HA!
Looks like everyone can suck it. Neat find.

Shouldnt we chat via Steam?
I’m getting a kind of tired to edit my last post just to prevent double posting :/.

Horizontal (To Equal Height)

This is the maximum distance, in units, that can be between two objects of the same height, while still allowing the player to jump from one object to the other.

Stationary: 84
Stationary crouched: 40
Crouched: 99 now 62
Walking: N/A will not jump while walking
Running: 176
Running crouch-jump: 225

THAT is definitely different though

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
