Hazard Course Remake (AVAILABLE NOW!)

But whyyyyyyy?

Guess I’ll be picking up his maps??

Dky: Not yet. I’ll have one more crack at it then upload what I have later.
Box: Sorry to hear. :frowning: Why are you leaving us? I thought you were just taking a temporary break?
Crypt: If you’d rather not, maybe I can take a look see instead once I’m done all I can do for the moment on Dky’s hazard rooms.

I don’t mind either one. I’ll let you decide.

Box, are you involved with some bad people? Are they looking for you? We need answers or we’re gonna have to kick you off the team.

I think I can pick up the lobby/intro maps once they download.
Since I played through QE today I’ve been wanting to do some officey stuff.

Is anyone actually making this? I’m sorry, but unlike Text, you’re releasing information to the public BM-style, so I can’t tell.

The lobby was actually one of my maps. But if you wanna take a look, go ahead. I’ve run out of ideas.

Max, yes, we’re hard at work on this. Look at our ModDB profile or skim through the thread for images. Just because we don’t write a page worth of updates every day does not mean we aren’t working. Have you even looked at the OP?

Is that enough of a progress report for you?

The latest news on ModDB is from Christmas 2012.

Was it? I thought Box was working on that.
Or maybe that was one of the early merged maps I’m thinking of. Explains why I couldn’t find it in his dropbox folder. :stuck_out_tongue:
No reason I can’t see if I can do a little work on both, they’re headed for the same BSP in all likelihood.
Maxwell: And the latest media is from a week ago. Not that long.
Anyhoo, my edits of the hazard area are up now, with about half the section of the course having a detail pass. Might have left the cordon on.

Yup, lobby was me. Box was working on the intro tram station and the first holo room as far as I know. If you wanna take a peek at either go ahead. Your detail work probably outclasses ours. I’m probably gonna try to further detail those transition areas if I get more ideas. They serve no notable purpose so they have to look sexier.

However the last image updates were on January 22nd, January 15th and January 10th. We only update news posts when we have something somewhat lengthy we’d like to say or explain. However if you follow the thread (whoa, we really are like Black Mesa!) you’d be much more up to date and kept in the loop than if you only follow the ModDB page.

I almost wanna write out exactly where we are on each area for you.

That would be much more helpful than the rest of the thread, so please do so! : )

Box, are you leaving because of Headshot?

Now, onto the summarizing.

To keep from the possibility of the other members not being happy with what I say, I’ll just summarize what we’ve discussed in this very thread (and the first one), using only images/info you can retrieve from the thread or ModDB page. Any lack of mention means nothing other than it hasn’t been mentioned or discussed in the thread. “Detailing” can refer to props, textures and finalized lighting.

First off, no final choreo, writing or VA has been done, so I won’t mention that beyond this point. We’re leaving that to be done towards the end. Mostly because we’d rather have everything else ready first, but also because Hillard and Teunissen wish to wait until towards the end to record anything.

Box’s intro tram is more or less complete, according to him. Some killer exploits make up most of the problems. Many easily fixable.

My Lobby is pretty much feature complete. As Jeff just mentioned, he might look at it for some more detailing and as will I, but it is definitely presentable.

Box’s holo intro is awaiting an in depth detail pass.

My HEV Silo is awaiting an in depth detail pass from me.

My transitionrooms are heavily detailed. I would consider them complete if not for the fact that I still wish to detail them into oblivion.

Dky’s Basic movement training is functioning. Awaiting further detail passes.

Dky’s Button/Lever training hasn’t been detailed yet, but is orangemapped.

My physics rooms are playable. Awaiting a detail pass from me.

Jeff’s Flashlight training is playable. He’s even aded an obstacle course to the end of it.

Dky’s firing range is feature complete. It’s orange-mapped and is playable, but some entity work and detailing needs to be done.

Dky and Jeff are collabing on the Hazard indicator training. It is currently being detailed.

Dky’s guard usage room needs to be detailed.

Jeff started on the tram usage training. Still needs planning.

Some ideas have floated around on the outro, most notably Jeff’s. Nothing further has been done.

The recurrent hologram has been worked on. It’s a bit Tannock-divides-by-zero-looking, but the model only requires a head and effects are being worked on.

There is no possible way that that is not enough information. And it’s all in this thread. You probably just haven’t been watching closely enough.

Way to be impersonal.

WARNING BORING STORY
I’m not just leaving the Hazard Course development team, I’m leaving game development behind me for ever.
Yesterday I was thinking:What the fuck am I doing with my life?
I have been into game development for 3 years, and I still have not reached or achieved any release or whatsoever.
Before I got into game development, I was creating tracks and anthems for small events and got money for it.I got into game development because things werent going so well (I basicilly didnt receive any more requests). After that happened, I was not able to affort new hardware for my computer so instead I started to get interested into game development with old engines.I did it for 3 years, and had a lot of fun with the people I worked with.Yesterday I was talking to an old friend of mine who produces beats, and wanted to colaborate with me.After some talking, I wanted to know how he wanted to become big.He said he found 1 labels that is willing to sign us, if we can make a brutal track with a lot of attitude.
To make this shit short, since I was 6 years old I wanted to become a DJ.This is an oppertunity to make it big, and play at events instead of creating shit for them.

bump

Well, shit. Go for it, man, hope it turns out great. But if you enjoy game development and have time for it, nothing wrong with doing it for fun. Good luck with the track.

I wish you well Box, hope things work out!

Good luck with everything, Box!

Maybe I should make this into a news entry.

Maybe you can still help with the mod, while being a DJ. You may put a song heard in the Hazard Course somewhere.

Also one request, can you put music after wearing the suit? Something like BMS/music/BMS - Mscl_Ambience2.mp3 but not so loud. Just like an ambient music.

We shall see. Music is probably going to come last though, even after the choreo and writing stuff.

Yeah. I personally like the idea of something similar to the Inbound tracks, except maybe more ambient and less loud. That style has a good feeling that I think would fit well with the course and not be all too intrusive. And hey, if Box does some tracks for the mod then we can leech some of his rep when he’s rich and famous. :stuck_out_tongue: Jokes, jokes.

I see you’ve gotten to it already. I declare you lead ModDB manager :3 Yes, maybe that’ll keep the negative thoughts at bay. I’d remove the final three sentences of my list however, or at least reword them. That particular paragraph was directed mostly towards an individual and sounds a bit aggressive for an impersonal news post, but it’s not important, really.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
