Ah, that makes sense. Do they connect directly into each other or are they linked through catwalks or hallways?
They’re just placed right next to each other, so they directly connect via a small walkway. I doubled the size of the outer room.
EDIT: New version of the map is up.
IMPORTANT! You will need my modified version of “bms_english.txt” in order for the ladder hudhint strings to appear properly. It’s in my dropbox folder; place it in “BMS\resource” for it to work.
What did you change?
Probably “Press E to use ladder”.
Well I dunoo
Oh, I didn’t pay attention while reading that. I feel stupid.
Since my original image for Mike looked like it was done it 30 seconds, I decided to put together this to show how he could modify his to look closer to Black Mesa’s (should he decide to):
Anyone have anything to add? I’m mostly nitpicking here, but it’s only because the models looks pretty different. Honestly I’d like to stick with Mike’s current model, but it does clash with Black Mesa’s quite a bit.
I honestly think the skin needs to be darker.
No idea why, but it kind of looks like drawn concept (which is clearly not since Michael would draw very different then).
But as for the model, it looks pretty good.
It would be weird if it sticks way to much to a male suit in my opinion.
He brought up a good point in that will the holographic effects applied the color’s darkness may not be noticeable.
That’s what the more feminine figure is for. Most of the changes I note are so it simply looks like it’s the same variant of HEV, but modified for a more feminine form. For instance, the black stripes which are absent on Black Mesa’s model.
:3
I do love that cartooney texture, though.
Someone needs to make a huge texture pack to make Black Mesa look like it’s just amazing concept art.
Y’know, the OP still doesn’t have our ModDB page attatched.
Not that it’s a big deal.
I worked a little bit on the 02c map. I think I might ask Lars to do the pipes as models, as working with tori in Hammer is ridiculous, and anyone who uses them is a tool, I now officially say.
I just went to the Wikipedia page to find out the plural form of “torus” and my mind is now broken. I need to get some sleep.
But I used the torus tool before…
Quit bein’ a tool by the time I wake up, tool.
Added ModDB link to OP.
This pleases me.
This amuzes me, because the ModDB page was created exactly 1 month ago.
Eitherway, who is in to use a subversion server instead of Dropbox?
Last time I tried using Subversion I utterly failed, but I dunno. I might be willing to give it another try.
And I’ve never even attempted to use one. If it has it’s benefits over Dropbox then I’d give it a shot.
Speed mostly, because we can update files very quick during the development.
That also means after we release it using SVN, we can patch much quicker.
But thats just what I experienced in the past, never actually got into it.
I don’t think SVN is really the standard for distributing Source mods. It just makes the user have to do more in order to start playing. I suppose I wouldn’t rule it out as an option, but I think .zip and installer files should be the priority for a release.
However, for us devs, if it would be better for storing our files and distributing them among each other then I don’t see why not, so long as we don’t fail completely at it.
So the consensus is that we have no idea what the hell we’re doing.
Has it ever been any different? Heh, heh.
We’re discussing, actually. I think.
