ya’ll aren’t giving up THAT easy are ya?!
Hell no! I’m just a mapper! I don’t quit my job.
I leave the grander organization and distribution problems to whoever is higher up on the chain, like a true developer should.
Amen, motherfucker.
Only instead of a chain we have more of a pack of paper clips, with no distinguishable beginning or end.
Yeah, that’d be the problem.
Well, that and lack of free time for some of us.
We’re the reason no other company works like Valve.
Soooo… About the conference we’ve been meaning to have for a month. Is anyone free on the weekend of the 29th or the 5th?
Maybe the 29th…
You sure about that?
Black Mesa got developed using SVN.
As for the conference, I’m avaible at both dates.
Only problem I can think of is there is a time difference.
Oh, and btw CatzEyes can’t voice act for us, because Carlos does not allow it.
If Carlos keeps with this decision, we need new options before everything got finished.
Let’s be clear, Carlos hasn’t given his permission for CatzEyes to help us yet, but that could change at any time.
And yes, I know no one can read my posts since they’re being ghosted, but I thought I’d at least try to clarify.
You mentioned using SVN for releasing, which sounds like added hassle to the user in order to play. For simply storing and exchanging the files among the team I have no problem with.
Did you contact Cman/Catz (or vice versa)? And the original voice files aren’t included in the SDK, are they? This is a bit of a set back…
Okay, what times are most convenient for everyone? I can be up and in the discussion at pretty much any time.
Why exactly does Carlos not allow it? It wouldn’t really be a detriment to either project to do so, from what I can see.
And as for time, just name a time in UTC and I’ll figure out the best way to do it. This gonna be Steam chat? Skype? What will we be doing?
I don’t think its hard to make a folder on your desktop and naming it Hazard Course and do a SVN checkout and let everything download. As far as I know from SVN, we can store the whole game + the hazard course, and patch files. That means we don’t have to release patches on ModDB and we don’t have to wait for authorization.
Also how it comes we are using 500+ mb already for the Dropbox.
Michael contacted CatzEyes yesterday, and she replied with that she is not allowed to help us.She also wanted to help Tripmine studios, but Carlos also didnt wanted that.
@Dky I really wouldnt know.I’m gonna try contacting him soon though.
Also does anyone know why Michaels post are getting censored?Because Michael getting kicked out of the Black Mesa team, has really nothing to do with the Hazard Course Project in the first place. This is also causing a communication gap since most discussion are on the forums.
EDIT:Michael told me this
In the BM Team you are required to ask for permission before you do anything outside of the Mod but still relates to the mod.
You have to keep in mind though that people tend to be idiots when it comes to installing things, which means it would probably break more than it solves.
As for simple development purposes, I won’t say no.
Oh yeah, completly forgot about that lol.
Also that not everybody wants to download extraneous programs they’ll only use once. I have an SVN program that I’ve only used twice, and most people won’t be familiar with SVN.
I can do Steam or Skype. I’d prefer Skype, personally, but I could g either way.
Yeah thats true :/.
Also Crypt why are you offline for a such a long time man?
Also found new sync site
My idea is to put finished content in there.
I haven’t turned my PC on in a couple days. I can sign on mobile, though, which I should probably do now.
Alright.
Why aren’t the voice actors allowed to work on any similar projects :S
This is what Michael Tannock told me:
“In the BM Team you are required to ask for permission before you do anything outside of the Mod but still relates to the mod.”
They need permission first, but I can tell you that the chance is very small since Carlos does not even allow photos of CatzEyes her head for us.
Any actual reason why?
Usually answers of “no” come with legitimate reasons.
