Has the BM website been slow lately?

hahaha it got buttraped!

It might be your internet connection. BTW I saw a guy that was not Raminator and it said he was the “Prodject Leader” is there a possible hacker?

Maybe it was Carlos, he’s also project leader.

Reviving topic: The site has been very slow for me.

Carlos (cman2k) is the project leader. Working under him are a number of lead developers for different departments. Raminator is the lead mapper.

Site’s working fine for me.

Nah it wasn’t the connection. The server is on a 50 Mbps unmetered port in a data center and we barely ever get > 15Mbps.

Its running immensely slow right now. My internet connection is perfectly fine, ping ~50.

Also, for some reason some threads have an “extra page” that when I click, refers me to the real last page.
For example, I’m browsing a thread with 3 pages. On the page navigator it says there are 4 pages, and lets me click the Page 4 button which just refreshes page 3. and I know there’s only 3 pages because once a new comment is posted its still on page 3, not on any page 4.

Sounds like mySQL database issues to me.

I’m not getting those errors… yet, but it sounds like the big debacle we had a while ago :fffuuu:

Maybe we’re the soon-to-be survivors of the BMS Forum Crash of 2010? :open_mouth:

I say, this website has more troubles than any other that I frequent. It’s a good thing that it has such a capable web / hosting staff behind it!

Another crash? Fuck, I only just got to Vort.

Did someone say high server load??

Yeah… shared hosting…
About one week later i moved host (Still shared, but a load of ~1.0)

hosted on a netbook

Nah, I think it happened due to that host only allowing cronjobs to be run at select times, and so when you get hundreds of people on one server whose cronjobs all run at the same time…

boom amirite

Wow for some reason today the site is running really slow!

It’s funny cause usually I’m the one having problems and everything seems fine to me.

Yeah, all has been fine here.

Everything has been fine here as well.

Well it’s not that easy keeping everything tweaked to handle the load :stuck_out_tongue:

The chances of a catastrophic crash are pretty slim. At the very most in the event of any kind of crash we might lose a week of posts. The server BMS is currently on is setup with RAID 1 config and we do weekly backups to a remote server.

alright lol, I figured you had some sort of safety precaution set up after the last incident.

Just out of curiosity, how many unique hits do you get per day?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
