Happy Birthday Half-life!

Eli’s voice was very close, given the circumstances.
The actor nailed his speech pattern if nothing else.

It’s not perfect, but, I bought it, yknow? I accept what i heard as a 20 years younger Eli with a cold

Aaaaah! You’re right! I had forgotten!

Well, reguardless, I’d like to see some HL2 read-between-the-lines style foreshadowing in BM’s Xen.

And, the Nhialanth’s (Spelling…) dialouge is a great start… I think it just needs some sort of small visual clue to tie the knot!

I’m aware

I am also aware that they will not get Guillaume. This is just me wishing…

Congrats! I’ll be waiting to buy it. Hopefully the major issues would be ironed out (especially soldier AI)

^^
The way Eli talks was nailed perfectly in BM, but the voice was not Eli’s voice. I wonder if it can be modified by some program.

Why not? Although I find the BM’s Eli surprisingly passable (the are more important things to fix/change) I also have different expectations now (and not the infamous “we owe you nothing” attitude).

This is no longer a fan project made in a spare time by amateurs and inexperienced pros. Black Mesa will be a commercial game, made by a professional game development company (Crowbar Collective) and will be treated as such by reviewers.

No more excuses

oke this news was exiting, back to waiting mode

Crowbar Collective? Cool! Haha, wonder if it’ll be anything beyond BM.

Will you release cards, backgrounds and such with the Steam release of Black Mesa? I’d love a Black Mesa background on my Steam profile.

… How about a remake of Half-Life 2? The game over 9 years old, and after playing Black Mesa it does look old.

By the way the new name is hillarious.

I don’t think a remake is necessary… more of a visual touch-up. And there are a zillion projects that do that. Anything from the over-the-top Cinematic Mod by Fakefactory, to the subtle-yet-poignent changes of Half-Life 2 Update by Filip Victor.

They have. They’re called Counter Strike Source and Team Fortress 2

I would like Cinematic Mod with better NPC models. Return Alyx and such to a lot closer to what they are in the HL2 games instead of…well, THAT.

I can never tell when long time forum posters such as Danielsangeo are making some in-joke or are being serious. But… what you just said… just no.

My post wasn’t a joke. I like the Cinematic Mod for everything but the character models. I think another person should update the characters and leave the level design update to FakeFactory. The models should be higher definition but still retain the look and feel of the stock HL2 models. My opinion, anyway.

I also don’t like the music… can that be removed? I haven’t played it myself, just have seen videos…

The mods come with the nifty tool which let you change the music(or maybe you do this when you install it) and at least the models for any given part of the game, anytime. You have to start the chapter all over if you change the model in the middle of one, though.
Some of the models isn’t that bad, it just that most change the appearance of the characters so much that so you can’t tell it’s them.
The male citizens looks amazing in my opinion, but the females(actually, all females models, even Alyx and Mossman) turn into young girls with big eyes and way to much make-up for current events.

Honestly, Filip Viktor’s update (version 3) looks like it will be all you need in a HL2 update. Just bring it up to current Source standards (inline with the episodes), you know. It’s perfect IMO.

For screwing up the models, and the original balance of the game, I really dislike the C-mod. The maps look fabulous though. Still, I’m glad the BM tm had declined Fakefactory’s application.

It must have been a great feeling being contacted by Valve about a personal project that you’ve worked so hard on for so many years.

Are you guys gonna do something about the Hgrunts in the release?
I think they were one of the biggest flaws in the mod if only for its ridiculous A.I

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
