You know, Halo is actually the first modern PC fps (WASD+mouse) I ever played.
Its not as good as Half-Life, but I could see even then why Halo became Microsoft’s Sonic or Mario when they released it on the Xbox. It has many issues (as illustrated below), especially in single player, but overall it is a solid game.

Just think about it, the game was developed by (a very talented) apple game studio. The game would have died in obscurity on the Macintosh had Microsoft not rescued it.
