Ok so pretty much everyone has seen Escape from City 17 now, if not then where have you been living for the past few months!? Anyhoo it has proved you can make a half life movie as long as you don’t do it about Gordon Freeman :freeman:. So imagine someone were to make an actual half life movie. You wouldn’t be able to have rebels running around black mesa shooting at combine that aren’t even there yet so who would you do it about? The answer is eli vance, dr kleiner, Magnusson, barney etc etc. We have never been shown, or really told how they got out of black mesa so why not have a movie showing how they got out of that damn place? Of course you will have to have freeman in it at some point but not for too long that the viewers get bored of the silent protagonist solving puzzles in third person (unless you do it in first person but that might be a bit nauseating for viewers as it was with cloverfield:fffuuu 
so yeah basically, whoever wants to make a half life movie do it about the main characters excluding freeman.
Games should not be made into movies. Period.
Edit: I beleive before the fourms exploded, I made an epic assumption on how Hollywood would handle a Half-Life movie. I beleive it went like this:
The film will take place at a secret government facility known as Black Mesa 51. The alieins would of been a result of an experiment (Project Xen) gone horribly wrong. The film will follow a group of partying teenagers who have snuck into the facility for some weed. Now they must fight their way through Black Mesa 51 and for some reason “Planet Z.”
Casting:
Barney Guardling (that’s his new last name) will be played by Tom Cruise for no reason other than he’s a big named actor that beleives in rich aliens
Alyx will be played by Paris Hilton for her comeback role! In the film, Alyx is a slutty teen, so I think Paris will fit the part perfectly!
G-Man will be Alyx’s mysterious boyfriend, who turns out to be a vampire! Hey, after the release of twilight teen vampires in love are all the rage in the younger crowd!
If anyone else has any other casting calls let me know.
Also, Gordon Freeman makes a cameo at the end. He’s now a sarcastic prick. And he’s black. And gay.
You do have a good point. Although the silent hill movie wasn’t bad. And I like resident evil films but not as resident evil films…they really should not be related to resident evil in anyway at all

But I did enjoy Escape from City 17, It was done well, very detailed. It wouldn’t be so bad to see a half-life movie, If done by the right people.

Tis what they did with resident evil. Have a movie very very very loosley based on the game but still put it in cinemas anyway cause they’ll make money off the fans who are looking forward to seeing a movie of their game. And then they get dissappoint and all cry. Personally if they make a half life movie and screw it up i will cry

I know that everybody loves the hell out of escape from city 17, particularly half life fans which i am. but to be honest, i didnt like it that much. I KNOW that they put a lot of effort into it and i appreciate and admire them for that. the thing is that i cant forgive bad dialogue and acting. no matter what a technical innovation it is and it is pretty impressive to see the combine stragling a rebel, i still cant forgive it for its shortcomings. im sorry that i am fussy but i didnt like it. AND THIS IS MY OPINION! i am not speaking for anyone else and if you wanna flame me go right ahead but it wont change the fact that i didnt like it. we crystal? good
anyway. half life movie? nope i really hope that it isnt going to happen. Half lifes story has been built specifically for a video game. there are no cutscenes and the player is fully able to explore the enviroment. how is that going to translate to a film? hmph. if there was a half life movie, it should be an entirely different story with entirely different actors. dont ask me the story or actors cos i cba talking it cos im just about to go to bed lol. maybe i will come back and edit this later
anyway sorry for the rant at the start guys but everyone just seems to think that its the best thing thats happened to half life ever. :meh: and i kinda dont. this doesnt mean that i am right and it dosent mean that i am wrong so dont flame me plz.
