Half Life Movie

The Half life movie will be like the starship troopers movie. The only thing it has in common with what it’s based on is a NAME only

I would love to see an actual half life movie with effort instead of stupid shit people put together from other movies to make a half life “trailer”
Put some effort into and yeah it would be pretty damn good. :retard:

I’m just glad that Valve hasn’t let anyone make an official movie out of Half-Life. Unlike some developers, they seem to have some pride in their work and don’t want to see Hollywood rape it up the ass until it’s in a horrible, nigh-unrecognizable state.

Fan-made movies, like ‘Escape from City 17’ are fine by me though.

^ Agreed. Fan made movies are fine. They don’t over ride what the game itself has planned and lieing in wait.

Official movies? The person who thinks to make an official movie of a game or a book should be burned at the stake like a witch. They will follow the story line…barely…and make/change a bunch of stuff that doesn’t make any since or completely makes some other part irrelavent just to take it out. I’m going to use Eragon as an example. The book was fine I enjoyed it (albiet I was still in my 2nd year of highschool when reading it and the teachers confinscated as soon as I entered the class room after 2 weeks of reading it during class). The movie? Sucked. I’m not going to go into those details. But my point stands if hollywood can’t make their own original movies, maybe movies should just die out.

Like Valve said…

They tried couple of time to make a script and it didn’t work out, i can really understand them…

But yes, if there will be an “Half-Life” movie it should be about the 7 hour war or something…

Yes if they make the movie about gordon freeman it’s not going to work cause no one wants to watch gordon freeman solve a see-saw puzzle for half an hour. But if they do it about other characters it could work

Two examples of making a half-life movie properly.

I really don’t get this one at all
i can’t work out if it’s supposed to be related to half life or not?

A half-Life movie could work, but they’d have to be extremely careful and not relate it to much to the game (e.g. not put any of the main characters in it). It could just show the HECU raiding Black Mesa or what happend in the 7 hour war

Yes base it on the source material, not the main story material for Gordon’s character.

Whats In The Box is really lame

Too true

several half-life movie scripts were sent to Valve, each time Valve were like; Heck no.

Lesson: Don’t make a Half-life movie.

what’s next , lego prince of persia?

in fact, they are making a prince of persia movie

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473075/

i was wel-aware of that blasphemy

Didn’t Valve say that they might make one?

They are probably some of the only people who could pull it off.

I agree with the idea of not including Gordon Freeman in the movie itself. Or maybe just a cameo, as for example, showing him running around followed by some rebels, scientists or guards (depending on which HL game the movie is based on), but I’m not sure.

It would be easier for Hollywood to go with a war-themed film, since that’s the kind of movie that people like to see, lotsa explosions, gunshots and the like. A 7 Hour War film would be good, or a film with the HECU. I just hope they don’t try to play it smart by featuring Adrian Shepard. The guy’s cool already, don’t try to spoil it.

And, of course, there’s the problem of the female lead characters. I wonder how film directors would deal with that issue.

They have scripts in Raising the Bar which look like they are from possible book based on Half Life.
That would be awesome, a book on Half Life.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
