Half-Life Movie cast?

Tony Todd + Lou Gosset Junior. Need some variance.

Variance is partly why I don’t think using the same models that played in-game-characters for a film is a good idea, and why I’d want a fat blonde bull-dyke to play Barney, and young awkward freak like Michael Cera to play Kleiner.

Magnusson and Kleiner would be fused into one character, and he would do everything Kleiner is supposed to do, except instead of being gordon’s old professor he’d have been a former classmate at MIT.

Anyone that has ever seen a film adaptation of anything knows that alterations such as these are always made.

Most of the Freeman choices so far are waaaaay too old. The dude’s in his 20’s. I think Armie Hammer (the guy who played the twins in The Social Network) would be good. He’s built enough that you’d buy Gordon’s into athleticism, but he has blue-bloodedness and nerdiness to him that you’d believe he got a Phd from MIT. Plus if he grew a beard and threw on some nerdy glasses he could easily pull off the look.

Despite being “in his 20s” I think Gordon would be better cast if the actor were in the low-mid 30s.

Also, for Judith, I’d cast Michelle Forbes. I’m not positive, but she has the added bonus that I think she actually voices the character (and she tends to play the same kind of ominous strong female characters).

michael cera as gordon and watch all the fanboys rage.

I swear everyone ignores my posts

Would suck as a movie, G-man would come off like a cheeseball piece of shit.

Only way to shoot it would be Post-apocalyptic-Film-Noir-esque, with Gordan narrating his own life.

But that would mean he’d have to speak, which would completely ruin the charm of the games. Only other thing I could think of is a novella, G-man reading the example of Gordans life out of a book, as an example of how junior g-men should activate in the field.

Based on combination of acting skills and looks (can’t just base a movie on looks, exactly why lara croft failed)

Matthew Fox - Gordan Freeman
Mila Kunis - Alex
Gordan Freeman - Alex’s dad
Malcomn Mcdowell - Wallace Breen
Jude Law - Dr Kleiner
Alan Rickman - G-Man
Barney Calhoun - Christian Bale
Julia Roberts - Judith Mossman

wat

I do agree, though. Half-Life: The Movie would either have to be shot in first person, which would be EXTREMELY disorienting, or would have to be done in a way different than the games.

A Half Life 2 movie would probably be played by the roll of struggling resistance members…

A Half Life movie would be played probably by other scientists or security guard employees that had died during the RC

I really couldn’t see any movies that contains the main cast of the actual game just because there is no real way to preform those characters, thats why most video game movies suck. I think a Half Life movie would have to be played from the point of view of a completely different person that only had word of Gordon but never saw him and ended up dying.

I hope you’re joking…

I’m pretty sure everyone had to have seen this:

Right? Because honestly that’s how I’d do the movie. Stays pretty true to how the game feels I think.

That is all.

william shatner as g man

arnold schwarzenegger as mossman

Andy Serkis as the voice and character basis for Dog. :retard:

Gilbert Godfried as every character.

Gilbert Gottfried as Gordon Freeman would be great…because we wouldn’t have to hear him talk.

EDIT: But, to be serious for a moment, a live action Half Life movie would be hard to do, I think. I think a better course of action would be a CGI movie along the lines of Wall-E or something. Doesn’t have to be cutesy like a Pixar movie would be; in fact, I would love to see more CGI movies that are geared towards adults. With CGI, you don’t need to find an actor that looks like your characters and you can even sign up the original voice actors to reprise their roles.

I’m wondering if a Half Life movie should begin with an original Half-Life prologue (a montage of sorts up to Nihilanth) followed by Gordon jerking awake in the City 17 train.

Otherwise, I seriously believe that a Half Life movie should follow Eli Vance. There’s a lot to this character that would be ripe for a movie. Follow him from the Black Mesa Incident, show him getting his daughter out of the facility, show the Seven Hour War and Combine takeover of Earth, then fade to black. Title card: 20 years later, Alyx is tinkering around with Dog, talking with Barney. Barney goes to work, and is surprised to see Gordon. Cue Half Life 2 plot (abridged to keep time). End movie with Breen falling and the Citadel beginning to explode.

Thoughts?

Martin Lawrence in a fat suit as Gordon Freeman.

I would rather it be animated, maybe in a similar fashion to TF2’s Meet The Team videos.

That way there wouldn’t be any worrying about trying to match voices and actors up properly. If you use real people, you’ll have to find people that look like the characters, then find someone else who sounds like them, then you’ll have to try to line the voices up in editing and that’ll be a long, tricky, and expensive process, especially with having to avoid messing up other sounds, or removing sounds that the actor made, etc.

GMan - Willem Defoe of Gary Oldman…

chuck norris ftw
