I remember reading a thread on these forums a while ago about what actors would play what role in a Half-Life movie, if one was ever made. I couldn’t find that thread, but I found something that I think would contribute to it nicely, so I’m posting it here.

I found Barney. I’m making this thread in the hopes that other people can post links to people who really look like HL characters.

Notes: This youtube video is a small part of a movie called Lawnmower Man. If you skip to 1:53 in the video and watch for a couple of seconds, you will see a guy who (in my opinion) looks A LOT like Barney from HL2. Now, I know that him playing Barney isn’t realistic considering that this movie is old and he’s aged, but it’s still cool to see.

Barney would have to be Played by Scott Lynch in any HL film. It just wouldn’t be barney unless it’s Scott Lynch with Mike Shapiro’s voice.

On the topic of a HL movie, it would likely be a disgrace to the series (not sure if anyone remembers the Doom movie). Considering that it would almost definitely require Gordon to speak, it would ruin his mojo.

More on topic, if they were to make a Half Life movie, God forbid, I would have to say Adam Savage from Mythbusters would fit the role. Just dye his hair and beard, shut him up.

There’s an alarming lack of imagination in this thread. Why can the face posers for the models be the ONLY people who can play them? That’s just absurd. We should be able to picture more than one person playing a particular role. Think how many great films there wouldn’t be if people were afraid to recast a character. Cesar Romero being the only person to play The Joker? Anthony Hopkins never playing Hannibal Lecter because Brian Cox got there first? And imagine the last few Bond films if Sean Connery were still in the lead. Shocking!

There shouldn’t be a Half Life movie. No matter what, whenever a video game is made into a movie, the film is always terrible.

I think a HL2 movie would work, but it’d have to be from the prospective of the resistance (hell, maybe even a bit from the combine view), and you would hear of Freeman through the radio and people talking about him, and the occasional cameo (like being on one of the buildings with the catwalks between them while he’s on the ground). It’d be pretty interesting if it showed more of the plight of the citizens that HL2/episodes didn’t.
