I rather liked it. They had good costumes, accurate props, and the locations fit the added CG stuff quite well.
^ Also, I’m fairly sure that just the helmets were superimposed, as they’re the only weird looking parts of the CPs.
well not really. there have been a couple video game movies that were awesome. besides the video game movies that really sucked were those bunches of crack made by uwe boll. like bloodrayne, mortal kombat, farcry, etc.

Exactly. In the past, video games were never taken seriously, and thus you’d only find terrible VG movies with crappy directing and actors. Now that video games have far surpassed the movie industry and are becoming more and more star-studded themselves (just take Mass Effect 2 for example), it’s high time for the movie industry to recognize the potential for material that video games provide. Especially now that it seems that studios are desperate for ideas. An E*Trade talking baby movie? You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
This is why I’m really hoping that Prince of Persia does well, so that more video games can see (good) adaptations.
P.S. I admit that Escape from City 17 isn’t exactly mind-blowing, but it’s still pretty cool IMO. It’s not really about what it is, it’s more about what it could be with a real budget.
