Half-Life 3 Probable Storyline

The better question would be: Haven’t thousands of people come up with the exact some theory with the exact same points?

EDIT: Sort of Ninja’d by Raw_Bean

Didn’t Valve also come out and say that the Gman is not related to Gordan?

Anybody on this forum that says Gman is Gordon is joking. They’re not being serious.

I know I was certainly joking.

But idiocies? Come on! I’ve just joined this forum, only just heard of BlackMesa and have only started playing on HL2:EP1 now due to the fact that my computer is a pile of shite.

So, you can’t say shit about me being an idiot. I was only saying it was possible. Not like most of the wimpy gman/Freeman shippers out there who are all like:

or people who act like idiots in general by posting utter bollocks in these kinds of threads, such as no one in particular but maybe Scrab_on_mars.

Personally, I don’t care what HL3 is going to be like, because, as far as I can tell, I won’t be playing on it for three reasons:

1)My computer won’t be able to handle the “zippy graphics” of it;
2)It will cost a hell of a lot, or it will be only available on Steam;
3)It will halt the process of any other games to be created by VALVe because they will probably invent another engine to stall for time.

If anything, I feel that I will lose interest of HL altogether if this shit keeps on happening, which is something I don’t want to do.

And by the way:

VALVe can say what they want. They invented the god damn game. that doesn’t mean it’s true

ITT what do Valve know about Half-Life?

Next week I’m gonna go see Stephen Hawking and tell him he’s shit at physics.

He’s not at home. I tried calling him, but it’s always a recorded voice answering.

I lol’d

Ditto. Lol.

I tried the Gordon is G-man theory once, and was promptly told that it wasn’t true (by Raw_bean I believe). Although, I must admit that he was very polite and his arguement made much more sense than mine. So Syrus dude, just suck it up. Nobody really cares about whether or not you’ll be playing HL3 (You shouldn’t even be in this thread in that case) or about your other excuses for defending your thought processes.

And you probably shouldn’t go around telling people that Valve doesn’t know the story that they’re writing. Just a suggestion.

It’s probably time to admit defeat there buddy

I didn’t say that they didn’t. I was just stating that VALVe could be just hiding the truth. It isn’t the first time that they have.

And sudpuzzer. If that’s what you think, then I will just forget about it. I don’t care much to be honest. This argument was kinda meaningless if it had already been created several times before by people like me.

Half Life was nothing more then a test for Gordon to see how he handles the situation, if you beat the game, then you were accepted by the Gman to work for him and to be sold, basically like a mercenary to the highest bidder.

In Half-Life 2 it was your first job working for the Gman, your job was to basically destroy the citadel weakening the Combine, leading me to believe the Gman is helping the human race, but can only go as far as interacting with us though Gordon letting him do his dirty work. At the end of Half-Life 2 you are taken back and put back into the ‘sleep’ for the next time he needs to use you.

In the Half-Life 2 Episodes it leads me to believe that while the Gman is helping the humans from the combine, but he isn’t helping them for a good reason. Its hard to explain. Simply put, I believe that the Gman wants to use the humans for his own use but the combine are in his way, so even though hes saving us from the Combine, I don’t think hes saving us from him (whether its for slavery or something else under the Gmans or who ever hes working for’s control). However the Vorgonauts (sp?) are on our side which is why they put Gordon out of the Gmans trance/stasis thing.

In Episode 3 I believe it will end the conflicts on earth and humanity will be saved, but Gordon’s story wont be over.

If there is a Half-Life 3, it will involve ending the Gman (either killing, or injuring him so he leaves the humans and Gordon alone) And ending the series with one of two ways, the crappier way by letting Gordon sacrificing him self to kill the Gman. Or the better way which would simply be the salvation of Gordon and how he can continue to live his life out as a normal person without anymore war and fighting.

But this is pure speculation and chances are this is all wrong. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why would you say Gman is helping the human race when he had Gordon start the Resonance Cascade in the first place? I swear some of you really do not think shit through.

And, of course he’s doing all this for his own good. We all know this.

I think he started the Resonance Cascade so he could get his hands on the Combine, because apparently all the portal storms around Earth are what attracted the Combine to Eath. And now that the Combine are on Earth, he has free reign to send Gordon Freeman to teach those flying potatoes who’s boss.

But he did not hire gordon until after he gave the lab the “special” crystal. My speculation goes like this: Combine hires the g-man to take out the nilianth. G-man “hires” gordon. 20 years later, the resistance/vorts hire gordon through the g-man to take out breen and the citadel. The vorts take gordon from g-man. G-man gets angry and tells the combine about eli’s location as a price for the vorts stealing gordon and breaking the “contract”. If, in episode three we find info on the borealis that implicates the g-man in that incident and a hint at his greater role, then HL3 could be about hunting the g-man. Or at least getting at his employers. Can 't wait for ep3.

It doesn’t matter if he had hired Gordon or not, he gave the lab the crystal which attracted the Combine, even if Gordon had died and the Nihilanth hadn’t bean destroyed, he could’ve hired someone else to take out the Combine, Shephard maybe. Not to mention he had his eyes on Gordon before the Resonance Cascade. Remember the first sighting of him? On the tram?

If I recall correctly, the Gman certainly can be spotted before the resonance cascade, but he pays almost no attention to Gordon until plenty of things have already died from crowbar-related injuries. He certainly didn’t look at Gordon in the tram sighting (I loaded up a new game to check that), and the only time I think the Gman payed any attention to Gordon pre-resonance cascade was when he and a scientist were arguing in another room, and he glares (At least I guess that’s supposed to be a glare. Hard to tell with the lack of facial animations) at Gordon if you stare at them too long.

Arguments can be made either way, but I don’t think he knew what Gordon was capable of before the resonance cascade. I think the Gman was only there to trigger the cascade, and to observe the aftermath. I believe the idea of ‘hiring’ Gordon only came to him when he saw how well Gordon fought back against Xen aliens and HECU marines.

That’s only my guess based on what I know, though.

As for HL3, I’m largely reserving judgment until Ep3 is released, but it does seem logical that the Gman would be the main adversary. However, Ep3’s story could, and likely will, change everything.

I think a lot of people overlook the fact that G-Man keeps Shepard in detainment because he doesn’t want him to make any trouble.
If he had wanted to use Shepard, he would have hired him like he did with Gordon.

This is a strong recommendation for anyone who is honestly into the story line. I am one of those people so finding this was awesome. I have been following the story line since the very beginning. To me, its one of the most intricate and enveloping story’s a video game has been able to produce without getting so damned repetitive.

If you cant see it, let me know. For those of you that are knowledgable in the game and the story, and who enjoy knowing specifics, read it thoroughly. Pick it apart, and see if you can find things that dont match. If there are any, they are few and far between.

It also mentions this about Portal:
1 - The date that the events of Portal take place aren’t certain. We do know that GLaDOS says to Chell: “Are you trying to escape? [chuckle] Things have changed since the last time you left the building. What’s going on out will make you wish you were back in here. I have an infinite capacity for knowledge, and even I’m not sure what is going on outside. All I know is I’m the only thing standing between us and them. Well, I was. Unless you have a plan for building some supercomputer parts in a big hurry, this place isn’t going to be safe much longer.” This implies that the game takes place during the Portal Storms or afterwards.

Remember guys… stating an implication does not state fact… just an educated guess.

Please forgive the lack of correctly spelled words. I cant spell for shirt.

I always thought of it as him keeping him in so word of the Resonance Cascade doesn’t get out. But that argument would be null and void now seeing as nearly everybody in Half-Life 2 knows what happened, Breen even openly talks about Gordon being the cause of all the mess, I think it was in Route Kanal.
Anyways, the Gman knows what Shephard is capable of and there’s know need for him to be keeping the RC a secret now he could very well have used Shephard instead of Gordon.

I don’t think the G-Man is or will be an adversary, all the games point to him being sympathetic to Gordon’s cause. I would like his motives explained in Episode Three.

Brother Gregori better come back! Hell, even as a Zombie or something! Now that would kick major ass.
