Yeah but everything won’t be procedurals will it. The vast majority of the textures will be made in 'Shop. I should know, I’m making them
Oh okay, I just thought that textures were made onto the model then exported and edited.
You can do that (paint textures onto a model) in Blender, and Maya to some extent, but not 3ds max.
I was not referring to 3DSM, I use blender myself, and from what I know I don’t think textures are applied on that, but made in program. I might be wrong, but I don’t texture so I don’t know.
I can’t understand your English really, by look up some tutorials on the viewport painting in Blender, it’s very awesome.
I was basically saying that I thought textures were made in program, not just “applied.”
i am saying that you’re right, you can make textures in Blender and (sort of) in Maya, but you can’t make textures in 3ds Max unless you use procedural textures.
oh okay, sorry for the bump though guys. SO texture3s can both be applied and made in game? nice
No. You have to make them in an imaging program, import them into a WAD/model if it’s for a model, then apply in the editor/modelviewer or modeling program.
You CAN use a screenshot as a texture with a bit of editing, however.
Might I suggest TWHL if you’re getting into GoldSource editing?
Fail
Have you guys gotten anywhere with this yet? It looks interesting, to say the least.
How so?
And who are you to say that about anyone here?
And who the heck are you?
Nom anyway.
He is 12. And what is this?
Progress is slow and sadly unsteady at the moment. I’ve made a dozen or so texture recreations and made a couple of attempts at imitating screenshots from HL2, and that’s about as far as we’ve got. Coolm4n has also made a few textures, and a couple of the modelling guys have done little bits, but nothing particularly exciting has happened. Dillxn seems convinced we need someone to setup and host an SVN server for us before anything real can start.
Needless to say it ain’t doin’ much
Hmmmm… Half-Life 2 in GoldSRC??? Sounds funny… But GoldSRC has no real physics, therefor the gravity gun is useless… But I’m sure somebody will figure it out!
We already found a solution.
We have? Has anyone actually put any of those theories into practice?
Not yet, but it seems like it would work, it would just requre a hell of a lot of sub-models.
