Half Life 2 in HL1 Graphic

Get your free TVs was just a source engine test…

He is thinking of the 2003 Source engine build.

Supposedly from 1998.

I don’t quite see how that is “Obviously” GoldSrc, the 2003 title screen looks more GoldSrc than that.

Yeah, that’s from the HL2 beta, which uses the Source engine

Can we get back on topic please? Will this actuall happen?

I might attempt to recreate Ravenholm using the HL1 engine. Might. However, I’m not going to bother implementing any major graphical enhancements such as Bloom or anything, just simple stuff. It will be very obvious that it’s been made on the HL1 engine.

Here you go boys:

I dunno about you, but I think it looks a hell of a lot more like gldsrc than that 2003 shot, because it looks just like the hl1 menu, and the 2003 shot looks just like the hl2 one, considering it was taken only a year before the release, and it actually is source.

Really sorry about the off-topic, but it’s not extremely off-topic, it’s about the hl2/gldsrc thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Some one should make Black Mesa in goldsrc.

Already done:

D: Linked to The Hunter’s review but not mine. :frowning:

I already have a host.

Umm… ok you sound like you know what you’re doing so we’ll put you down as… level editor?

Oh I meant as a solo project. It’s not even all that likely I’ll do it, I’m not even sure what I’d do for fast zombies etc.

Once I am good at modelling I would love to help (although there is this one mod that has a space reserved for that time :stuck_out_tongue: )

Can I help Dillxn?

Any help is appreciated. What can you do?

sigh

If you are serious about this I’d be more than willing to do all kinds of beta testing, script/plot writing, and software protection. In more detail:

When I play a game I always keep a keen eye out for details, which could be why HL’s many small things appealed to me and made it the game it is. I’d be more than willing to give you thorough feedback every step of the way as a faithful gamer.

I don’t know if you need this or not, but writing has always been a passion of mine, and I’d be glad to create some lines of dialogue for characters. God only knows you need them, HL2 relies on dialogue to get the point across.

As for software protection, in the case that you don’t want your code to be revealed, there is software called SoftwarePassport (also known as Armadillo), and I have a license for the latest version, 7. Google it if you need more info.

Just making some offers. Good luck either way.

Well this is a remake of HL2 on the GoldSrc. engine. So the story/plot will be exactly the same, and so do the dialogs. My idea is to simply use the HL2 voices files and compress them with the same settings as HL1 voices files to make them sound like in HL1.

Here is a quick example I made to show you what I’m talking about.

The .rar folder contains an unmodified audio file from HL2, and a modified and compressed one to make it sound HL1-ish. It sounds totally like Barney in HL1.

I would have suggested re-recording the HL2 voice files, otherwise you’ve got permission issues. Plus, I would quite like to have a chance to do some voice work for a low-standards project!

Any screenshots of HL2 running on a 3DFX card? If I recall the HL2 and EP1 has directx 6.0 throw backs.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
