Half-Life 1997 Alpha Preview Build Released

You’d think Chuck Norris would have a better poker face. Or a poker face at all.

lul he got banned.

Whoa, the original Office Complex is pretty sweet, actually! Not as pretty as the final, but still I like it a lot.

I’d like to see someone with knowledge of the quake engine fix up the game a little bit, add some weapons and scripts.

I agree about Office Complex, it’s pretty cool.

lol basically just running around with the mp5 grenading everything since you have unlimited grenades and the glock sucks.

You climb ladders weird as fuck

^Thought I was being attacked the first time I climbed one.

I think they wanted to emulate the motion of your body alternating when you climb a latter but it ended up just looking like gordon’s tilting his head side to side like an idiot.

Or a very happy physicist.

This is cool and all…but it’s too damn dark, you can’t see shit.

I actually thought it was a bit too bright. Especially in the freezer section of OC. It was white as all hell.

It has different lighting every time i launch it.

Did we play the same alpha?

You can change the lighting with a press of button, “N” I think, try some keys.

The levels work sorta, albeit with the wrong palette and missing npcs/scripts

Interestingly enough, if you load office complex with the Quake CD in/use a port that supports mp3/ogg playback, the song that Quake loads is actually pretty similar sounding to the HL song they used for the E3 98 office complex trailer

Hmmm. Too many users downloaded the file lately. My luck. Can someone upload it elsewhere?

Anyway, everyone knows Chuck Norris answers directly to Gordon Freeman.

No problem, here you go: https://www.mediafire.com/?rmryvgbd8e5b7l0

Yay, thanks!

It’s Give-school-internet-a-beating o’clock.

EDIT: Download corrupted :-/
Well, I think it WAS half the size of the file at Google docs… That makes it a QUARTER-LIFE. Get it? Hehe.

how do you get there?

“map c1a1”

When the game first loads up, just type that in and hit Enter.
