Hey, I’m not much older, but I’m familiar with firearms.
I tried out an L85 (oooh…exotic) at a firing range, and was worried about the gun falling out of my hand when I tilted it to reload. When I tried out my Uncle’s AR15, it was a much easier reload.
Plus it looks kewler.
Oh, I shoot often enough, but mostly .22s and trap. the .30-06 was a one-time thing in New Mexico, unfortunately, and I forgot to bring my glasses so I couldn’t hit much. 
I’m sure that bullpups are harder to load, but you can’t deny the combat effectiveness of having a shorter, yet still accurate weapon. That said, it’s a little harder to see the benefit in a sniper rifle

neither. distance glasses. ones that make my eyes look in the right direction and allow me to see what I’m shooting at.
I didn’t really forget them, I was backpacking for 12 days and I shaved weight by not bringing them.

As long as it delivers a long barrel while keeping appropriate overall length, I can cope with crap reloading.
And it’s not THAT crap either. I felt pretty comfortable with SA80, after I got used to it.
