MP3 had a lot of 1080p video cutscenes and those eat a lot of space (8gb to be specific), however I’m sure GTA5 will go back to in-engine cutscenes like GTA4 which might mean it’s not going to require as much space but I’m sure it’s still going to be a bit bigger than GTA4.
I thought it was the textures that took up a good chunk of the install file?
That too but since I figure GTA5 won’t need many video files, that’s a lot of space that won’t be needed.
I’m looking right now. 8GBs is prerendered cutscenes, 10 GBs is in the “Levels” folder (I’d guess textures, props, etc), and about 5GBs is in the “Models” folder. And in the base folder there’s a file called “audio.rpf” which is 3GBs.
I really don’t know what to expect from GTAV’s size. I doubt it’ll be as large as MP3 though. I’m guessing around the 20GB mark, which is still large, but not as large.
The whole folder is 28gb, without the videos is 20gb, which is still a bit more than GTA4, which I believe is about 16gb. So yeah, twenty-something gb for GTA5 sounds about right.
Take into account though that due to it’s open world, GTA V is probably gonna re-use modular assets way more than Max Payne 3. MP3 was mostly linear purpose built assets.
It may even be smaller because of this.
How big was GTA San Andreas? 4+ gb?
Steam Version says 5,8GB.
I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say that the PC version will come out later .
…and better
If by that you mean unoptimized then yes.
I’m optimistic on R* after the PC version of MP3, hope they can deliver the same (or better) on GTA5
What is this, 2008? Get with the times. Rockstar knows what’s up.
I’ll believe it when I see it…“Get with the times”
You already fucking saw it, you fuck. It’s called Max Payne 3. Also, if you’re gonna say “get with the times”, you fucking use it right.
THAT RIVER.
God those screenshots look so good. So much better than GTAIV’s brown and orange color palette. I’m hoping it’ll run well. I don’t care if it’s as optimized as MP3 (though if they can do that then hell yeah, do it) as long as it runs decently with none of the weird graphical artifacts that GTAIV had.
It appears that your arguments are more valid so I apologize,my bad.
Not gonna run on my laptop, that’s for sure. I hope it’s as good as San Andreas, without the crappy pilot license & missions.
Just for those worried about hdd space, i have found a repacked version of Max Payne 3 that is only 10gb, nothing missing from the game and video cutscenes converted to lower bitrate 720p.
